Those of the Sword

Okay, so here's the deal:

This is my first contest, but wait! Don't go! I promise you I am an adequate judge and I will comment on all of your works. So here are the OPTIONS:

1) Write a poem that depicts an epic sword battle (or one you just thought was really cool).

2) Write about how you feel when you practice/spar with the sword. (Please, only pick this one if you actually spar.)

Those are the only options! Sorry, I'm looking for something specific here.

As you can see, pre-writes are allowed, but I would apreciate it if you could come up with something new.

RULES:

1) No StIcKy CaPs. I'll kill you (Not really, I'll just 86 your entry.)

2) One entry per person, so make it your best effort. Addidtional entries will be removed.

3)Comment on Dance the Sword. It's one of my poems.(If you can't find it, stick this in your browser bar allpoetry.com/Poem/1537312 )It doesn't have to be a paragraph, but read it and write something intelligent, be it criticizm or praise. (Criticism will not be punished!)

1st Prize is 300pts and a happy gold trophy.
2nd Prize is 100pts and a pleased silve trophy
3rd place is an over smug little bronze trophy

sorry, I only got 317 pts total. If you'd like to applaude one of my poems I might be able to add a points value to 2nd and third.

Only 30 entries will be accepted, so get writing!

And, please try to make it rhyme. I have a tendancy toward poems that rhyme unless it is a crazy-good free-write.

I AM EXTENDING THE END DATE OF THIS CONTEST BY TWO A FEW DAYS IN HOPES OF MORE ENTRIES! PLEASE BE PATIENT. THIS WILL BE THE ONLY TIME THIS CONTEST IS EXTENDED.

Contest is Over

  • Final notes:
Well, I decided to go ahead and judge this contest even though SOME of you didn't take the time to comment on Dance the Sword as was required. I liked too many of the poems from the poets that didn't comment...So anyway! Here are the winners!...

Hmmm, I don't think that I could do this contest justice seeing as how I don't know squat about swords; I just find the pretty ones in the stores and buy em. LOL! But I do hope you get some great entries! Have fun!

    Hugs

This isn't a contest you see everyday! It will be interesting to see what kind of poems will be written here!

this is an excellent contest. and you won't believe it made me write my first poem which went into the most applauded poems for the week, with 22 or so applauds!! i am really happy!!! thankyou so much! i tried to make another poem of the kind i have submitted, and i will submit it as soon as i finish it! i guess you do allow 2 writes per person. or else i will put it in another contest. there are many anything kind of contests,or i won't mind putting it in another contest of yours, if you are ready to put up on!
