O.K. ....
So I was racking my brain trying to think of a contest that would be really really cool and this is what I came up with:
So I am editing this cause I guess I was confusing people, Alanis writes most of her songs about men, how they are screwed up and all of that, and she doesn't really hold back, imagine she wrote one of her songs to you, if you are a girl, imagine you are a guy, and you just listened to one of her songs, like You outta Know, what would you say to that, how would you react, this is what I want, a counter to one of her songs, pick any one, it really doesn't matter, just have fun with it!!
For example:
I want you to know, that I'm happy for you
I wish nothing but the best for you both
I know the version of me
Is she perverted like me?
Would she go down on you in a theatre?
Does she speak eloquently?
And would she have your baby?
I'm sure she'd make a really excellent mother!
Cause the love that you gave that we made was unable to make it enough for you to be open wide, no!
And everytime you speak her name does she know how you told me you'd hold me until you died, 'til you died?
But your still alive!

And I'm here, to remind you
Of the mess you left when you went away

O.K., now what I would do is pretend that she wrote this song to me, and I want to react to it, so I would say something like:
I am glad you are happy for us,
and I am sure that you have all intentions to wish us well
Yes she's perverted like you,
she went down on me in that same theatre you did,
She can re-read the dictionary
and she is already pregnant,
and yes, she will make an awesome mother.
OK., see what I did there, I just took what she said in the song and answered it, so that should make it a little bit more understanding, thanks all, oh yeh, I really don't care if it rhymes, so try not to force it k?

1. I am going to allow pre-writes only because someone might have a poem that they already did this with
2. I don't really care about the cussing, so yeh, just go with it.
3. write the song that you are countering in the comment part so i know what you are talking about
4. I really don't care if you comment on my poems, but try to comment on the other people's poems, it's good for karma

I dont listen to songs about men to men.....did I get this right? or did i get confused as usual....oh well I guess Ill wait to see what your entries provide......I may find some inspiration in the inspirations of others...other then that...im clueless...

I love Alanis. Did you know she's engaged? I don't think I'll write a poem for this, but I just thought I'd let you know it sounds like a good idea, though I think the directions are a little unclear.

well I don't know much of Alanis Morrisette other than she replaced Evanescence (
) for the opening theme of the Narnia movie...could you possibly send me a link to some of her lyrics? I always judge lyrics before I go to listen to the artist themselves because I think lyrics are equally, if not more, important than the actual voice. Plus I'd need to know some of her lyrics to enter this contest, which I plan on doing soon.

I love Alanis. i'm a hard core dancer and this last year i did a lyrical dance to "Uninvited" amazing lyrics, amazing music, amazing vocals!! she's amazing every piece of hers ive listend to has astounded me!

i dont exactly understand the rules, so if my entry doesnt qualify, i apologize...but "uninvited" is the song i related this to since the references to not being allowed in comes through in both the song and the piece i wrote...

Dang, I wish I would have known about this contest as I think Alanis rulzzzz, she is the queen of all music LOL She is my favorite female vocalist and I love most of her music. I'm surprised that you didn't get more entries thsn this
