Happy Holidays (Contest)

There are a few options for this contest and it will be open for quite a while; I’m planning on judging it on December 31, unless I somehow find some friends and something to do for New Years Eve. So don’t rush yourself.

Options:
1. Autumn has come and gone in Colorado, at least the part I live in, it seems to be going already so I want to see poems about the seasons, specifically winter and autumn.
2. A break off from option one, write about changes. This can be in people, in seasons, in life, in whatever. Just has to be about changes.
3. Write about holidays; traditions your family has, what you look forward to, whatever. Just has to be about the holidays.

On these next few options, there is a story behind it. Last year, four days before Christmas my brother passed away. Christmas wasn’t a very good time for us and now it’s just my father and I, and we are struggling with the fact that this time is coming on so fast. Not only that, but Thanksgiving was the last time I saw my brother.

Also, my cousin here at Allpoetry, Terri (PapoosSidekick9) has lost someone close to her as well. Her grandfather passed a few years ago and that anniversary falls on Thanksgiving this year. So….

4. Write a letter or poem to someone that you wish were there with you on a holiday. Why are they not there? What would you do if they were?
5. Write a letter or poem to my father (Pat or Patrick), Terri, or myself to lift us up on these days. I know it will be hard for all of us so please, just make these uplifting. Anything that makes me feel worse will be immediately disqualified.
6. Write a poem about a special gift that couldn’t be found in stores. I am leaving this option pretty open, but if you would like some ideas on it, I have a few. So just IM me.

That’s it for now; I think this is enough to get something for pretty much everyone. I may or may not add more; so check back frequently.

Rules:
1. Put the option number in your author's comment box.
2. No StIcKy CaPs, Typing Like This Crap, DO NOT YELL AT ME! or chat lingo (u, lol, r, der, dis, etc)
3. No Adult or Erotica Themes; the only option this may fit in is the last one, but I’m not looking for that in this contest. If you really must, IM me and I may consider it.
4. Enter as many as you’d like, but only one from each option.
5. Check spelling and grammar please. If you need someone to edit it, there are many people here that will do that for you. And this site has a spelling check and Microsoft word has one too; so just do it.
6. Not mandatory, but it would be nice to comment on other’s in this contest. There is no need to comment or even read my work.
7. No abuse, suicide or cutting.
8. Have fun and just write your little hearts out.

Prizes:
First Place Gold Trophy, 300 pts (for now)
Second Place Silver Trophy
Third Place Bronze Trophy
NOTE: All points are subject to change at any time.

Thanks,
Jessica

tokingjohn, yes Christmas in Colorado is interesting, but I'm tired of it; I will be moving to Florida in January so I guess that shows how much I like snow. LOL! I hope you can enter!

christmas in CO is wonderful isn't it? (except for the mild problem that I hate snow!) but it's beautiful all the same. This time of year is my absolute favorite, so Im glad i stumbled upon this. I'll try and think of something and be back. I hope the holidays go well for you and you, your family and especially your brother are all at peace.
    God Bless,
