Okay, this is like my 8th contest here at A.P. and I am trying to think of new and creative things for people.
I want you to go back to 1969, the year that had Woodstock. For those of you that were there, give me every single emotion that you felt, everything.
For those of you how were not, put yourself there. For example, imagine that you are sitting on the ground watching Jimmy Hendrix play his guitar, what are you feeling, what is around you, are you high?
I am infatuated with this era, the passion that people had in the 60's, so I want you to show me what it was like. I am only 23 so I obviously could not experience this, so put me there.
Here are the rules:
1. Do your research, make sure that you know what you are writing about.
2. If YoU hAvE tO dO tHiS, dO tHiS iN mOdErAtIoN!!!
3. uhhhhyeh, that's it really I think.
Good luck!!
PEACE!!!

I shall enter this... oh yes... I shall enter...
It amazes me, I too am obsessed with the 60s
It really does amaze to think of living in a time of acceptance like that, where you could walk down the street being open and expressive... and welcomed
A time where love was a very real thing shared by a huge number of people
I shall enter this... oh yes... I shall enter

Woodstock? - Awesome!
I love the idea. I'm only 15, but I really really wish I could have lived in that time period. I'm practically obsessed with it all -- Woodstock, hippies, the music of the time, et cetera, all of it. It's wonderful, marvelous!
Really awesome idea for a contest. Good luck with it! -

My idol, Joni Mitchell, was invited to Woodstock to perform but was unable to attend. She wrote a song about it though, called "Woodstock" which is one of her most popular. Here are the lyrics:
I came upon a child of god
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, where are you going
And this he told me
I’m going on down to yasgur’s farm
I’m going to join in a rock ’n’ roll band
I’m going to camp out on the land
I’m going to try an’ get my soul free
We are stardust
We are golden
And we’ve got to get ourselves
Back to the garden
Then can I walk beside you
I have come here to lose the smog
And I feel to be a cog in something turning
Well maybe it is just the time of year
Or maybe it’s the time of man
I don’t know who l am
But you know life is for learning
We are stardust
We are golden
And we’ve got to get ourselves
Back to the garden
By the time we got to woodstock
We were half a million strong
And everywhere there was song and celebration
And I dreamed I saw the bombers
Riding shotgun in the sky
And they were turning into butterflies
Above our nation
We are stardust
Billion year old carbon
We are golden
Caught in the devil’s bargain
And we’ve got to get ourselves
Back to the garden -
You know strangly enough I don't think I have ever heard that song, I am going to go find it though, thanks so much for writing that!
-
I think the Woodstock song above was actually sung by Crosby Stills and Nash at the 1969 festival, but not sure. once you hear it though, you will recognize. one of my favorites too!
thanks for a great contest and great contest theme Tarnished. You were a great contest leader, and I really enjoyed being a part of it!!! thank you again!!!
