Holidays? Yuck! [Contest]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   ~~~~~WHAT MAKES YOU DREAD CELEBRATING THE HOLIDAYS?~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We're reaching the end of the year, and that means a slew of holidays.  No matter what ethnic or religious heritage you have, there is something or someone to celebrate.
We all know the happy side of celebrations:  Family, Friends, Honor, Remembrance, Gifts.... etc.
What I want to know is what is it about the holiday you celebrate which casts a bad light on your holiday?
{}too much to do?
{}too many fireworks/ loud noises/ decorations?
{}don't follow the same religion anymore or you question your beliefs?
{}don't like your family?
{}too old?
{}too young?
{}outsiders don't respect your beliefs?
{}don't like the food?
{}a friend or loved one won't be there to celebrate with you?
This contest is open to the discussion of - any - recognized holiday celebrated during the months of November and December.
    This is fun!
    What I want to know is what is it about the holiday you celebrate which casts a bad light on your holiday? I'm not going to offer examples because I want some original answers. This contest is open to the discussion of any recognized holiday celebrated during the months of November and December.
    Hmmmm.... Fine challenge. Maybe I'll do Samhain, or Hallowed E'en. Or maybe Saturnalia/Christmas. Oh the choices!
    Looks like fun, one holiday springs to mind instantly so I"ll try to write something on that later.
    Just wondering, do we *have* to write it from our own personal point of view, or could we say, put ourselves in the shoes of an elderly person who dreads spending Christmas alone type thing?
    Best of luck to everyone entered
    That would be a great idea to write it from someone else's point of view. The goal is to be creative, so why not? Thanks for asking!
    Hmm, I will see what I can enter for this. I do have a question however. It's not mentioned in the contest as an option or guideline or whatever, but if the reasons for disliking the holidays is because someone you held dearly to your heart has left for some reason or another, can we enter something like that? If not, I have a few other ideas; but that's my main reason for not enjoying holidays. Good idea for a contest and I hope you have a great time judging this one. And don't let the holidays be too rough on you; just kick em in the shins; it always works with most other situations.
    HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
    Hugs
    Jess
    Oh that is an excellent reason. The only explanation I have for not listing it above is that I hadn't thought of it.. but I will add it right now!
    How is this "fair" when all the topics are unutterably and drearily boring? I could barely stay awake reading it..........................................................................................
    I spent my holidays surrounded by my loving husband and dogs. Though I did have to work Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas. My husband made baked ziti and garlic bread, and we watched the marathon of law & order. Nothing special, but nothing to regret either! Thanks for your applause!
