Your Proverb

Hello everyone!  It's Cheri, coming to you with her fourth contest.  This one is quite different from my last three, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of it.  Anyway, let's get down the business. . .

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
I want you to create your own original proverb.  It can be something pertaining to morality, spirituality, something personal to you, or politics.  There are some guidelines, so read on. . .

GUIDELINES FOR YOUR PROVERB:
It can be anywhere from three (3) to six (6) lines.  Rhyming is optional.  Make sure that your proverb is COMPLETELY original--no paraphrasing, copying, etc. of something by someone else.  Feel free to use a general idea or concept in writing your proverb, but make it original.  And of course, there are always rules. . .

RULES FOR THE CONTEST:
1. All entries can only be 3 to 6 lines long.  Anything shorter or longer will be removed without notification.
2. ONE PROVERB PER PERSON..no more than that.  If you are using more than one screen name on AP, submit only one piece under ONE SCREEN NAME.  If I have reason to believe you are submitting pieces under two screen names, both entries will be removed without notifying you.
3. No erotica, sticky caps, or internet lingo.
4. Keep profanity to a minimum.
5. Prewrites ARE allowed, but I'll be surprised of you have something like this already written.

NOTES TO READ:
1st place - 300 points
2nd place - Anywhere from 35-50 points
3rd place - Anywhere from 20-40 points
(There will be honorable mentions.)

*I'd appreciate it it if you'd comment on some of my poetry.  It isn't required, but it'd be a nice gesture.  ^_^

I will try to read and comment on everyone's pieces and some will probably get applauded.  If yours isn't applauded, it can be for any number of reasons, so don't worry.  Just have fun with this and God bless.  =)

Love in Christ,
Cheri E.

ONE PROVERB PER PERSON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  All your entries will be REMOVED without notification if you break that rule.

I don't think it's very intelligent for writing. I think speaking in ebonics is fun, but I don't like seeing it in poetry, stories, etc. It just isn't what I prefer.

I have posted my "Ugliness" proverb. You requested no profanity, so there is none. Of course there's a rude word there, but nothing profane or sacred.

PS Who or what is Ebonics?

Dictionary.com says it is another term for African American Vernacular English.
