Anyone got a light?
Here is a link to the poem: allpoetry.com/Poem/1385197
Although it is not necessary to read the poem to write your entry.
The very first poem of this contest must start with the words, Anyone got a Light?
Then, the second entry must start with the last line of the first entry. Each subsequent entry must then begin with the last line of the previous poem.
ToltecWarrior and I were in a similar contest together, and we both enjoyed the creative challenge it presented. We are hoping that this contest will be as challenging and fun. Should there happen to be some entries that are entered close together and use the same last line as their opening line, the next entry can choose which of these poems to copy the last line from in writing their entry. ToltecWarrior and I will sort our the order of the entries in our judging process, so if your poem happens to use the same line as another entries, don't worry about it counting against you.
Contest Points:
1st Place- Gold trophy and 500 points.
2nd Place- Silver trophy and 350 points.
3rd Place- Bronze trophy and 150 points.
There may also be some honorable mentions, depending on the quality of entries. If we so decide some deserve it, they will receive 25 points each.
That's it! There are no rules. It is always a respectful thing to read and comment on other entries, so please do so. Besides, that is the best way to make new friends and read some excellent poetry.
Remember, the first poem in this contest must start with the lines:
Anyone got a light?
FINAL NOTES from TOLTEC WARRIOR
Great job to all! Thanks for entering our contest. We had a fun time reading and judging each entry. Look forward to more interesting contests from Watuwant and myself. Thanks to all!
peace and light

DAMNIT.. >.< theres someone under my entry so noone will end up using my last line..and that one was a hard one too.. teehee.. oh well.
-
so since there are three poems that use the "first line" ar we supposed to take the last line of the last of those thre poems? or may we pick one?
-
You may pick one, AureateCorona.

Well, maybe someone will be venturesome and use yours anyway. That will be allowed!

Hey...I was wondering if it was my contest that both of you entered. It finished a few days ago and was also called "the last line." I'm glad this idea is catching on!
-
SilverScent, it was not your contest that inspired this one. Toltec and I were in one a few months ago, which gave us the idea. They are fun though, huh?!

Sounds interesting.I have to read and see if I can come up with something.Nice idea.~~Suseann

This sounds like it'd be a lot of fun to enter but I'm feeling kind of tired right now and I don't want to try and run off the last line right now. I also really like the title of your starting poem and I'm interesting in reading some of your other works. Neat idea and if you'd like remind me to enter later.
-
Please do, suseann!
-
sylve, here is your reminder! Still time to enter...
-
I remember to have read Edmund Spenser writing 14 sonnets, with last line of previous sonnet becoming first line of next...I can see this is going to be an excellent exercise!

Yes, this is the second such contest. The first one is over, glad there is another one going.
-
hey,
this is a very interesting contest...something full of fun, but i m sorry i'll not be able to participate.
a very unique concept.

This will be very interesting and fun actually to read when it is all completed neat Idea. Good luck to the entrants of this contest. Very interesting challenge for them all.
-
Sounds interesting, and yet I don't get it, please explain in idiot's terms, i am not good with directions, so that would be very helpful.

Nuitperle, as of this moment, the last poem entered in this contest is "AP for you and for me" by Poetryality. So the next poem in the contest needs to use the last line of this poem as their first line in their poem. And so on and so on. Hope that helps...

I love the Idea it's a really cool way to get inspiration, though I did find that your last line "ANyone got a light?" gave me the most inspiration so I have used that I hope you don't mind. this was a lot of fun thanks.
-
We don't mind at all, Vampstress. Thanks for entering.

such a good idea -- i had this same idea myself, so i'm glad someone is doing it!
-
I like the idea but the last four or five poems I went through don't seem to be following the rules so I'm not sure whose line to use. O well, next time. Good luck with the contest, take care and God bless.
-
What's really weird is that the poems are now listed backward based on when they were entered. So somehow the system has screwed up the order, making them all seem out of whack. There were a couple that used that same last line, but for the most part it was going along fairly smoothly. I'm going to report it to a mod, so they can check into it.
Thanks for the consideration.

Hi doug,
Great contest! I wish I have seen this earlier so I could enter. I have read some of the poems and I've seen some who did not understand the contest. I have joined a contest before using the last line of the previous entry and I've seen your poem too that was entered in that contest. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the entries. cheers! Eris -
Thank you both for the HM. I enoyed doing this. Hugs!
-
Noticed the problem a bit late, seems they've reversed the old order and all new poems start at the top.
-
Yeah, the problem didn't materialize until the last day or so, as the poem stayed in order until then. Weird...
