To Give My Friend Courage

bosses from hell cartoons, bosses from hell cartoon, bosses from hell picture, bosses from hell pictures, bosses from hell image, bosses from hell images, bosses from hell illustration, bosses from hell illustrations
Nate is my friend's boss.  He's mean.  We have all had mean bosses some time or other.  My friend Annie cries all the time because he is so cruel/insensitive to her, and it makes me mad.  If she could put a poem in her purse to make her laugh, you might really help make her life easier.  Please help!  :-)

Nate:  he is in his late 20’s.  Nikes to drink and party with the old boys.  He is very judgmental.  He looks for the wrong or strange in people and calls it out and down. He gossips.  He is 2-faced.  He is rude and disrespectful to others. He treats the techs that work under him (Annie is a Tech) like easy slaves, except for 2 who are his favorite fellow home girls.

He gloats and shows my friend, especially, that her opinion is not credible.  I think the ickiest thing about him to me is that she cannot trust him, that he refuses to trust her, and that she cannot work WITH him, no matter how hard she tries.  It is always a proving ground between them.  He poisons the workplace, making it an exhausting place to exist for her.

She has better training and experience and it makes him jeolous and even angry, I think.  He 'Polices' like a little NAZI & even the smallest of things around him he needs to control, even if they don’t belong to him.  He places priority on this Nazi crap, often at the expense of ideal patient care (he supervises a hospital pharmacy).

He 'turfs' the scary stuff if he can.  He is scared inside, not confident.  He NEEDS compliments a lot.  He enjoys the girl-worship brown-nosing he gets from 2 of the pharm techs who gossip with him.  He likes praise from Annie, too, but her compliments do not mean so much to him. She is very gentle & kind to all of her co-workers, making sure she recognizes them in their good works every day.

Nate doesn’t take care of his body.  He wears his hair in a short brush with tons of grease in it.  He is very overweight and puts others down when he can.  He has a thick neck, little eyes in a big square face.  I suppose his facial features mean little, but maybe you can use trhem.

Let’s see, his mannerisms. He laughs sometimes, can be funny. Every day she works with him — it's an intense day--

She does see the little boy in Nate, and that's who she tries to address and tries to remember when she works with him, but he does not show her his best side.

Maybe it is never so black and white as I have written it.  But it is what she generally has to work with.

I know that a poem will help her put this outside of herself more, where he can’t hurt her as much.  You'll be helping her exist in her job more happily...make her laugh!  She'ss be able to pull out the poem when he has been cruel to her, and she'll be able to not take his abuse so much to heart.  She has a really big and soft heart.  Let's rally around her and protect her through poetry!  :-)

300 points first place
150 second place
100 points thrid place

More points awarded if I have enough to do so...

Poetic form is of your choice.  However, it should touch on  a mean boss or "Nate the Grate's" attributes (like something that grates on your nerves).  You can title the poem anything you like, but something funny or stinging including his name might make her laugh.

If you submitted a poem on the last contest about Nate, you can enter a new poem.  Thank you!

Nice idea to help your friend. He sounds like a first class prick who should be abandoned and immediately.

I will see if I can come up with something that will make Annie smile . I imagine it to be very hard to be what seems like such a soft soul as she seems to be , and then have to put up with the likes of Nate. But in the meantime , maybe the next time when he starts to affect Annie the wrong way she ought to do what they suggest if one has a fear of public speaking(picture the audience naked)I generally do not poke fun at people and their looks....however it might do Annie a wealth of good to picture Nate having been completely "nude while rude"If nothing else it will make her cringe enough to distract her from her emotional pain. ANNIE, YOU ARE WAY ABOVE SOMEONE LIKE HIM...

This Nate-fella sounds like quite an a- no, can't say that word here, but you know which one I mean. I had a boss like that too, well, not THAT bad, but still. He loved making my workday a living nightmare. Glad I quit! Hope you get some good entries in this contest, Enigma Tic!

I wouldn't worry too much about the amount of entries most contests get 90% of entries on the last day and even if you don't get as many as you hoped for you've still done a wonderful thing for your friend Annie and thats far more important

best of luck and i hope you do get more entries the contest deserves it

    Awesome!!!

It is so hard to work in an environment that Nate has brought to the workplace with his insecurites. We all run into those types of people in life, but when they are our boss it makes it so much harder to deal with them as you see them all the time. Grrrrrrrrrrr I say, don't let him get the best of you Annie. I will try to think up something humorous to fill Annie's mind as he goes about berating and trying to make others feel as he is. Wonderful idea to help your friend.
Nate is grating on my nerves already and I haven't even met him, do know the type though. I'm off to think of something good for this. Have a sunny day and keep smiling.

Sounds to me like Nate is a giant turd! People like that most always dislike themselves so much that they find it neccessary to be mean to others as a way to take the focus off themselves. Best thing to do with him is to kill h im with kindness.

You are, Prik, of course just being ridiculous. Nate has a good side like everyone, but he is misusing his authority and Annie is one of the most gentle souls I have ever encountered. She tried doing everything she could to win him over with kindness. You know what, there are a few people in this world you just can't win with. Nate seems to be one of them. I am trying to help Annie laugh and have courage rather be hurt all the time. With this poem in her purse, she'll have a better chance. Annie and I have discussed looking for the good in Nate, trying to love him the best we can, getting along...it does nothing. He's callous and if you like him, go look him up and smoke a joint with him or something. Whatever. But don't come to MY page calling nice people Nazis.

You asked "What am I doing wrong?" Well, nothing. Except that it doesn't seem very interesting to write a poem about one's boss. Especially since many of us don't have a boss. Indeed, I myself am a boss. So you are ruling out as potential entrants maybe 70% of people! Also the subject is pretty boring anyway.

thank you for the Silver and congratulations to the other winners as well. I do hope that Annie did smile a little , that she will smile some more...and that she will see that at times we can not change how others act , we can only change how we react to them<----that really holds true. So do your job as good as I know you do Annie...walk away at the end of the day with a smile knowing that Nate is as miserable after hours as he is during. He just can not stand himself,
thanks E.T for hosting this contest,
    Reenie
