Rhyming Rumble Part III (A three part contest)

This contest is only open to the following ten poets who have advanced from part 2. Congratulations and welcome back

phattkat
Legend
Pamela A Lamppa
Storm So Rare
sithlelisa
Jecks
ecrivain01
Flatlander
Storic
Samplette

I have a feeling this contest is going to be tight. I will leave it open to prewrites so that I don't stun your creativity. I do ask that if you use a prewrite that it be one that has not won in another contest or been entered in one of my contests before. Again, rhyming poetry only...you pick the subject and presentation.

This is not a requirement but since there are only 10 poets in this contest I think it would be a show of good sportsmanship for everyone to read one another's poems.

First Place  400 points and the gold
Second Place 200 points and the silver
Third Place  100 points and the bronze

That's all, let the rhyming begin
Ruth

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on August 2, 2005
  • Rewards: Gold: 400
  • Final notes:
Wow...another wonderful contest and the entries were not easy to judge...I had to pull in some extra help for this one in the form of my sister who is home from North Carolina. Thank you for the entries, all of which in an ordinary contest could have taken 1st place...but since I don't have the option of awarding 9 first place trophies, without further ado, here are the winners:

1st place On Marston Moor by Storm So Rare this poem was perfect in meter and rhyme as well as told a wonderful story. Dee uses unique wording in her poetry. If you've not read this, be sure to check it out.

2nd place Illuminations of the Night by Jecks This poem is written from the perspective of the moon. The rhyme is well done and the flow of this piece carries the poem smoothly down the page.

Back to the Sea by phattkat This poem contains some nice middle rhyme and good end rhyme. It tells the story of an old sailor born to sail.

Honorable Mention: Santa's List by Pamela A Lammpa The meter and rhyme in this piece are flawless. I love the concept behind the poem but felt that the poem was just a bit too light at the beginning for the tragic ending it contained.

Thank you each and everyone for participating. You're all winners in my book
