Titles (Top To Bottom):
Speriamo (Let's Hope)
Madre Lavoratrice (Mother Worker)
The above oil paintings are of my grandmother's hands. I would like you to choose one of the poses and write a poem based on it or to go along with it, no rhyme and please quote the title of the painting you used in your author's comments so I know which one you wrote with, thank you.
All the obvious rules need to be followed here, I won't name them cause every contest here has them and you know what they are.
One entry per painting per person.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on July 30, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 600
- Final notes: Sorry it took so long, I didn't realize the contest had closed already.
Tony22 got first place because his poem was written as if he knew my grandmother, she is almost exactly how he described
I suggest everyone go read the poem he submitted, it almost made me cry. I also appreciated the lines of Italian he threw in there too, no worries Tony, the grammar was fine!
pattyann4500 got second, my grandmother is still alive but her piece was so emotional, it made me cry. Reminded me of my grandfather too.
Whispered Love has third, I really liked your piece, good job!
Everyone else -- thanks for entering I didn't think I would get many entries, it was definitely interesting!

Amazing paintings. I wish I had pictures of my grandmother's hands. What a great idea for a contest. Not sure If I'll get the chance to enter, but good luck with it!

I wish you well with this contest
Beautiful paintings

I can think of so many things to describe a Grandmother's hands.Might be because I am one.Hands do so muchin life from begining to end to express feelings. But I shall refrain from an entry because I'm a rhyming poet.Free form just doesn't have the same feel to it for myself. So I'll pass with much regret.Nice idea for a contest though.~~Suseann

Thank you so much for the silver for Straightening Angel Wings. Although I never had a grandmother, I truly cherish the idea behind grandmothers.
Congratulations to your other worthy winners. Hugs, Patricia -
