Modern writing with a catch

CONTEST!

This contest is for people to experiment with a more modern writing style (think e e cummings) or a lyrical style (think sylvia plath) or possibly even to emulating the style of Eliot.

With these styles in mind, I will give you the rest.

Incorporate the following lyrics pieces (or part of a piece ) into your poem
(these are all Tori Amos lyrics or songs she has covered.)

Use more than just one phrase.

*She said she’d stick around until the bandages came off.
*your peppermint breath gonna choke him to death, daddy!  Watch your little black sheep run.
*girls you’ve got to know when it’s time to turn the page, when your only wet because of the rain.
*Figure it out, she’s a good time fella too bas the burial was premature, she said and smiled.
*I run off where the drifts get deeper.  Sleeping beauty trips me with a frown.
* I know she’s playing poker with the rest of the stranglers calling for my soul
*Bobby’s collecting bee’s and hammer’s, he used one on me
*She’s convinced she can hold back a glacier, but she couldn’t keep baby alive
* how many fates turn around in the over time?  Ballerina’s that have fins that you’ll never find.
*tuck those ribbons under your helmet be a good soldier
*I escape into, your escape into our very favorite fears cape it’s across the sky and across my heart and I cross my legs oh my god.
*first my left foot then my right behind the other pantyhose running in the cold.
*first my left foot then my right behind the other  breadcrumbs lost under the snow.
*tuck those ribbons under your helmet, be a good soldier
*dripping with blood and with time and with your advice, poison me against the moon.
*brides in veils for you we told you all of our secrets
*we scream in cathedrals, why can’t that be beautiful
*Thought I’d made friends with time, thought we’d be flying.  Maybe not this time.
*I see you there with a rose in your teeth, just one more thin gypsy thief
*Jane came by with a lock of your hair. she said that you gave it to her that night that you planned to go clear
*I Hear the west wind whisper my name
* But what if I'm a mermaid in these jeans of his with her name still on it
*You treated my woman to a flake of your life and when she came back she was nobody’s wife
*I remember yes in my peach party dress no one dared no one cared to tell me where  the pretty girls are those demigods with their nine-inch nails and little fascist panties tucked inside the heart of ever nice girl
*It was me and a gun and a man on my back and I sang "holy holy" as he buttoned down his pants
*A little dust never stopped me none, he liked my shoes I kept them on.
*the girls were dancing she was coming of age
*the sun on your face, I’m freezing my frame
* Of course I have beneath my raincoat, I have your photograph
* you said you race from Langley pulling me underneath a cherry blossom canopy
*how did it go so fast, you’ll say while we were looking back and then we’ll understand we held Gold dust in our hands.
* gas lights glow in the street, twilight held us underneath her palm as we walked along

Thank you so much for the bronze in your contest! I had so much fun with the lyrics and trying to write in the style of E.E.Cummings!

Thank you and thanks for a great contest too.

    Wishing you many perennial dreams...
