This is a really interesting idea for a contest! I will give it some thought and see what I come up with. You should get some varied entries on this. Have a great time judging it! (I'll be back...)

No poems about ships. A few about sailors and shipboard life (especially shantymen). And for the next 5 days I will be a shantyman at Portsmouth with proper wooden ships to sing on at IFOS 2005.
I'll offer you an old shipboard poem. If you don't want it in the contest you can quickly delete it.
