For this contest I'd like a poem or short story (and I repeat... short) about your funniest or most embarrassing online moment. As an example, I'll tell you about mine.
While living with an abusive husband, I became close friends with a man online whom I considered like a brother to me and he considered me like a sister. I was in the process of trying to get up the courage to leave this marriage and was having an online conversation with my friend and he made a comment to the effect that I needed to leave that situation even if it took him coming to the house and kidnapping me and handcuffing me to his table until I realized that the best place for me was away from my now ex. I chuckled about the situation and decided later to get back at him for that comment. I went to an online erotic card site and found a picture of a scantly clad woman in leather sitting on a floor with her hands handcuffed behind her and a chain extending from the handcuffs. The caption read, " All good pets should be chained." and to that I added:
"Kevin, this is for that little handcuff comment tonight. Ruth" I typed in his e-mail address ( but by mistake left out one letter) and clicked send. The next day I received this reply: "Dear Ruth, Thank you so much for the invigorating card. Please feel free to send me cards like this any time you wish. You certainly put some interesting pictures into my mind with your words. Please keep in touch. P.S. My name's not Kevin, it's John, but you can call me anything you'd like!! " Certainly not an experience I lived down quickly or one I'll soon forget

oh that was a great story...i can't think of anything at the moment for this contest even tho it is a wonderful idea and very unique...i'll keep it in mind and see what i can remember...good luck on judging all who enter

Well I am hoping I can come up with something for the contest (and I'm bookmarking it in case I get inspired)... but I must say your story is something I can relate to. I, too, was in an abusive marriage. I was with him 7 years, married 4 of them. I should have know from his family's ways I would have to change or not be accepted. I ended up physically and mentally ill. It took nudging from an online friend to leave him. That friend is now my boyfriend today and soon to be the father of our baby. Funny how life works out, huh? Well, have fun with the contest and if you ever need to talk about abusive husband in the past, I'm here for ya!

This was a hoot! I have a story (doesn't beat yours by any means-think you took the cake on this one,lol). If I can think of a clever way to pen my story in a concise way-I'll be back. Great idea! ~vj

This should be good to read.
Oh I love that and well I have had funny moments but nothing like this so I think that I will read them. I have had some other moments that were less than sterling and it was before I discovered online. For example my daughter and show and tell. That was not an online thing but I wrote about it. So this one I just have to read. Good ideas though. I have had experiences though that made me mad. Like those ads for male enhancement products and I am a woman. -
