A Party of Personality! You write any style of poem, describe any famous personality from the past or present, historical, movies, silver screen, musician, ANYONE you think you want to write about as if YOU are the person, but..........
you can NOT say the NAME of the person you are coming to the party as...it is a COSTUME PARTY and we have to Guess by your description of yourself or how you tell about your life or quirks or how just things particular to you, just WHO your Famous Personality is! Got it? So please do not post a photo of your "costume"! it will be more fun to see how well you decribe your personality with words only! (for example, if you came as say....Lucy (lucille ball) she would be telling everyone about Ricky, touching her hand to her flaming red hair... etc etc...)
So come one come all to the AllPoetry Masquerade Ball !!
Rules:
Do not use the name of the personality in your poem or comments section please...i want to see if i can guess who you are by your words (rhyme is optional, use any form or style you like)
This is a FUN party so I really want FUN poems, no morbid suicide cutter costumes this time.
Limit one entry per guest please, I have a limited supply of party favours.
1st Place: 300 points
2nd Place: 75 points
3rd Place: 50 points

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 11, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes:
there was no way to judge this fairly, each entry was a delight to read...how do you pick only three when ALL were wonderful, this was the first contest i have done, and i had no idea how fun it would be to read your entries, and all the wonderful comments you left each other. It was a fun contest.
the down side of having a contest is having to choose only three to place. i finally decided on the top three for reasons that they were the ones that (in my opinion) were the most humorous, and that was the purpose of the contest, to have a lighthearted laugh....i did not judge so much on poetic ability, flow, meter, or traditional form, i judged on 'grin factor' so please don't think if you didn't 'win' that your poem was not outstanding...there was not a bad poem in the group, i want to thank you all for writing an entry here, i hope each and every one of you will always have the remarkable ability to laugh and enjoy life every day!
a special thanks to Yem, although your poem did not 'win' in this contest, it was of epic quality, and as many times as i read it, i am still amazed at the meaning and significance the message has. you never cease to amaze me.
thanks all again for coming to the party, i hope it was fun for you too.
honorable mentions and applause to:
the magic night by anaer (she is only 13 and a terrific poet!)

That's a cool idea. It's always great to find contests that challenge the writing abilities on this site. I think this one is a good challenge, it requires a stretch in your creativity. Hope it goes well, I may try writing something. God bless
~Stefani~ -
thanks Stef!!! hope you can be there!
-
This sounds totally awesome! I will try my very best to come up with a really really good one for you....so I won't post it tell it is the best that I can get it or actually I might just go a head and post it now but then change things later that are better......I am having a contest as well...check it out.
-
thanks Gemini! i certainly will check out your contest...hope you can make it to this PAR-TEEEEE!!
-
This such an amazing contest idea! I'm going to try to think of a really cool costume and enter. I'm excited now, geez! But what to wear?!?!?!?!
-Kal -
Okay, I was going to write my entry, and I got confused. Do you want it written as the "narrator" is in costume or as an omniscent being is seeing the person in the costume?
-Blonde at Heart a.k.a Kal -
Well I hope that my entry is what you were wanting....let me know if it isn't so I can fix it.
-
hi Chicka! you can write it ANYWAY you like it hon! just come on in and have FUN!
-
Too cute, I can't wait to see what I can come up with.
-
Let me think on this one.
Okay and I agree with Superman as I can't wait to see who I come up with either. This should be safer I hope than the other masquerades that I did. -
Great idea for a contest.Sure you will get lots of weird and wonderful entries.Probably going to be a nightmare to judge!
-
This is a really neat idea, I did something like this before, except with objects, not people. If I think of someone good to use who everyone knows of I'll enter, but until then good luck in your contest!
-
It's stuff like this that gets my weird "creative" juices flowing. But I can't just do it the way others do...it has to be Yemish.
I have some wacky ideas already!
I apologize for not coming sooner, you were right, this is up my alley.
-
Superb idea. I've entered, and you'll never guess who I am...
-
This has to be one of the cleverest contests yet. I hope that the ball is a sucess and that the music plays till dawn

You have gotten a lot of people comming to your party now! This is such a fun contest! I will have to through a party like this soon! It is so fun to see all the different people here. And it is great that most of the costumes are older famous people and not new famous people! reading some of the poems makes me think that mine isn't as good! Oh well I did the best that I could do. I really like mine even if I don't win....it is something that I have never done before...so ahead of time....let me say thanks for throwing such a wonderful party.
-
I am just having way too much fun with this contest. I know everyone so far. Thanks for hosting this wonderful party

I thought I would break my rule against entering contests that do not allow pre-writes and give it a go, but it is a lot harder than I thought. Everyone I would like to come as is either too obvious or too obscure. But I will keep trying.
-
Sounds like a cool contest, I love Masquerade balls ~we have one every year.~ To bad I have not been on in a week, I would have loved to try my hand with this one. Oh well, have fun!
~Rhiannon~ -
Congratulations to the winners. May you all rot in hell.
You knoe Rebeka, I think I've said that in every contest I've lost (and that has been a lot!) and never once has someone taken me seriously. I'm frankly amazed!
That will make it all the easier for me when i stick a bomb under their car!
It was a fun contest and I'd intended to do it traditionally, with humor but I can't really control where "Chester" my dwarf imbecilic muse goes.
-
i wrote a note to you i the 'final comments' section and also sent you a party favour so you would not tell me to rot in hell
you know i loved your poem, and you know i love you too, now go away.
-
I didn't tell you to rot in hell, I told the winners to rot in hell.
Oops, someone has finally taken offense!
No, I appreciated the kind words very much. I count you as a friend and appreciate that friendship. Darn that Mari, he's making me all mushy!
-
Rebeka...thanks so much for the silver and the points. I think I enjoyed this contest more than any I've been a part of to date and read each and every entry. Thank you for hosting such a fun contest and for your prompt judging. Well done
Congratulations to the winners and to the well deserved HM
