My first contest.
Here's what I want:
I want you to write a bit of Harry Potter fanfiction (preferably I would like this in story format, this can be a poem, but it'll have to be good!). There's a twist though, I want you to write it about *OR INCLUDING* a character who isn't heard about a lot (Dean Thomas, Lee Jordan, Theodore Nott, Millicent Bulstrode...ect). You can write it just about them (a day in the life of...) or you can write it from their point of view, *OR ANY NUMBER OF OTHER CHOICES*, your choice. But it has *INCLUDE* a character, created by JKRowling, who has no real story in the books. *MAIN CHARACTERS OF THE BOOKS ARE NOW INCLUDED IN THIS CONTEST* ~ I just want you to include as one of the main characters of your story one of the obscure characters.
Rules:
1. Please do a spell check. I like to know that I understand you in full when I'm reading.
2. Keep it tasteful. Don't swear just to swear, and don't make it some amazingly erotic PWP (plot? what plot?). I want a decent plot to this.
3. If you have characters with established personalities, please don't go too out of character with them.
4. Please put your favorite character in your author notes, so that i know you've read these rules.
5. This can be from any time period in history.
6. Watch the Sue-Stu (Mary-Sue, Gary-Stu) count. I don't want any.
7. One prewrite per customer, please.
8. Try to comment on at least one other person's entry.

One too many stories I've read have Sues (Stus) in them and the stories lose all their appeal. However, I read one story in which the main characters fought Mary-Sues. Quite an amusing story, but I look forward to reading yours. ^-^

I love HP fan-fics. I actually have a collection of them on my author's page. I'm definately interested in this contest, but could you possibly extend the end date, just in case I can't get a brand new one in order by that time?
Much luck to you and I'm so relieved with your Sue rule just like Alon says. I hate reading about "Perfect" characters that just don't belong in JK's world.

Damn.. I wish I had a prewrite to enter.... What about if it contains main characters but flashes to the development of one of the obscure characters. I'm still going to write a fresh one though. Let me know.
The obscure character is Narcissa Malfoy.

You don't necessarily have to be witty to write fanfiction. ^-^;; I mean...I write it. xD
But I agree. I'm hoping for some more entries. I might change the rules slightly to try and get more people to enter. -
Cool contest. I would totally enter but I don't have a pre-write that works for this contest and finals are this week so I dont have time to write anything. but props on putting up a contest for HP fics.

i've got the perfect entry (except its in poem form)that i wrote for another contest but it was too late by the time i'd finished. The problem is ithe prewrite entry bar isn't working properly so i can't enter it, damn! I'm sorry about the prewrite thing. I don't know how to fix it though. Maybe just try copy and pasting it as a new entry. I can't think of anything else. I'll see what else I can do though.

I wish I could write short stories better, because I would definately enter this contest because I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. I enjoyed reading all of the posted, and I will try to post one, but it won't be very good.

Personally, I'd like to see a story on house elves. I dont know why but I love those things. I dont think there's anyway that I could still enter. Great idea though, enjoy judging! ((Samantha))
