Summer Summer Summer time.
Well summer isn’t for another 28 days but if you live in California you know it sure feels like it already.
This contest has to do with.. well, you guessed it SUMMER
Everyone has their own little get away during the summer whether it’s across the country or half away around the world, what are your plans this summer? Poems about beach, seaside, cottage, camping, any vacation basically. If you could make it humorous brownie points!
Basically, anything summer!
Rules
1)None of the regular no-nos: Internet slang, Sticky caps, erotica, cursing
2)Please be kind. Use spell check the site offers one.
3)You may enter up to two entries.
4)No prewrites.
This isn’t a rule but it’d be nice if you comment on the other entries, I won’t be checking either.
Also, if you have a dark background and dark text or something like that and I can’t read it I’ll say it once in an IM but if you don’t change it in 24 hours I **will** remove it from the contest.
Points
1st place will get 400 points
2nd place will get 200 points
3rd place will get 100 points
If I get enough entries (which helps me comment earning more points) I will award 4 honorable mentions @ 50 points each

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on June 4, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: Ya'll see that I didn't have many entries but it was so hard to judge. Everyone did a great job.
First place goes to A Summer Cookout- It brought back MY own summer memories and thats something that I like thinking of.
Second place goes to Summer Time Getaway- I also like small places which hardly anyone goes to, it is truly a great place to be away from a bunch of people.
And third place goes to Summer Fun it made me laugh, and want to go camping. I have never gone camping and all you hear is all the great things about camping and heres a poem that is the inside dish!
I did not get as many entries as I was hoping for but this was a great contest to hold, for those of you that did not enter because I did not allow prewritten work- expand your horizons a bit.
Of course everyone that entered will at least get 50 points.

Summer fun...mine sounds more like work!! (jk) I can not wait to spend my whole summer with my girls: watching Pooh Bear, swinging, letting them ride the "horsey", running around chasing them while I pretend to be a shark, rolling down the hillsides, ok; maybe I'd better stop here. I sound like a wierdo. I'll see what I can come up with!

There once was a bat named Bert who thought he was a tabby cat. He insisted on being called "Tubby Tabby" which made all the other bats chortle like Pigs eating cotton balls. Well one day NASA came by and noticed that this cat named "Tubby" had radar. They found this odd and captured the would be cat and took it to their laboratory. There they poked and prodded the poor bat until he, out of necessity grew to tolerate it.
The moral? Oh yes:
You too will grow to tolerate Yemassee if you take his poking and prodding long enough!
Have fun with the contest and I hope you get lots of entries. If my wacky brain allows it I might add some wacky piece....you might want to close the contest before I do, lol. -
I hate summer. West Sac doesn't allow fireworks, and we don't get invited no where anymore, so that cancels out my traditional birthday present of Piccalo Petes. Plus there's the heat. Cranky from heat, cranky from lack of fireworks. No more plesant bear.

I invite you to my house fourth of July, no really, and well on my bday too, (july 26). and we'll have fireworks and those little hand held ones that the kids run around with-- you can have all the ones you want!! -

woot for summer stuff
awwwww i love this idea... heheheh i'm soooo gonna write!!!!!!!!! does it have to be a vacation or can it be just summery??????????? i'm up in canada and it just hit 88 degrees yesterday for the first time in ages... so please forgive me if summer's not really the most recent thing on my mind, i'll giv'er some humour anyways -

Puprle cows everywhere, flying pigs in the sky. No wait what am i saying?
I love going to the beach, i don't go abpard as we can't afford it But is still nice to get away from home sometimes.
But i am not sure if i could enter or you would want me to enter.

I don't mean to be rude but I feel you chose poetry not on depth and talent but on how it related to you. I am so sick of judges who are biased. next time, look at talent and depth and the poetry, not memory lane.

Look, I could've read a poem that was the best well structured poem ever, but if I did not enjoy reading it and it did not make me feel anything it's not going to get any of my points. At least I did not hold a "send me 100 points and enter" contest or a "two hour contest for three friends that are online to give them points and a trophy"
Next time, just don't enter any of my contests.
