Hi!
This is for Star Wars fans. Episodes I, II, III, IV, V, VI
Do one of the following:
1. Write a poem about a Star Wars character from first person point of view. Note the character in the author's notes.
2. Write a poem about the force, it's power, it's opposing sides, it's nature, anything about the force.
Here is some information about the force:
(Luke Skywalker): "I can't. It's too big."
(Yoda): "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere. Yes, even between the land and the ship."

(Yoda): "Yes, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they. Easily they flow, quick to join you in a fight. If once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny, consume you it will, as it did Obi-Wan's apprentice!"
(Luke): "Vader... Is the dark side stronger? "
(Yoda): "No, no, no. Quicker, easier, more seductive."
(Luke): "But how am I to know the good side from the bad?"
(Yoda): "You will know... when you are calm, at peace, passive. A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense, never for attack."

3. Write a poem using your favorite quote from the movies as inspiration. You may use the quote in the poem or you may use the quote's message as the theme for your poem. Please put the quote in your notes.
Here are some of my favorites:
(Yoda) "Do, or do not...there is no try."

(Yoda) "Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering."

(Yoda) "Ohhh, great warrior. Wars not make one great!"

(Obi-wan Kenobi) "In my experience, there's no such thing as luck."

This contest sounds like so much fun and very challenging as well. Episode 2 is on TV in Australia tonight (Sunday 15th of May) I haven't seen it yet as my video machine was struck by a force called "lightning" several months ago and I haven't got around to purchasing a new DVD machine as yet. Perhaps your contest will inspire me to do so. Peace and love

So, you're looking for characters/things in the original Star Wars movie only? Or can they be from the other movies?

All six of the Star Wars movies. Any of the characters from those movies are good. I should have clarified that better. My favorite quotes just happen to be in the earlier movies.

Here in Rhode Island (USA) they aren't even renting many videos any more. They are all dvd's. They are only about $30 on sale. I hope they aren't still expensive in Australia. Any way, enjoy the movie! The last episode comes out in the theaters May 19 here. Wooohooooo! I love Star Wars. It's like a life long adventure. I saw the first one in 1978 when I was 11. I have been hooked ever since!

Thank you for the silver. Just wanted you to know that I am removing my poem from the listings....I'm removing all my poems from contests and reverting them to regular poems.(so it's not you
) Eventually I will get my entire listing reverted back to regular poem....(maybe I need some force to help )
