Hiya people! Welcome to my fourth contest!
This time, let us all be IN LOVE…
I want you to make a love poem IN REPLY to your favorite classic love poem.
Puzzled? Here’s a sample…
How Do You Love Me
By Mr. Greenleaf
(a sonnet reply to Browning’s “How Do I Love Thee”)
How do you love me? I can't count the ways
You love me greatly no more I can ask;
I'm always in joy, you light up my days
You stir up my soul from dawn until dusk.
Eases my weakness your warm caring hands
Better than my dreams your sweet night kisses;
Your face like of that whom launched ships thousands
Gladdens my heart with countless memories.
You love me more than any in the world
In your eyes I see myself rejoicing;
That love I know shall last until we're old
Death may come but it will never be ceasing.
For there in Second Life I know, I feel
Your love for me will remain strong as steel.
Easy now huh?
You can also make a poem IN REPLY to my own love poems...

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on May 18, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: HA! I had a hard time judging this contest. There were a lot of good pieces – thanks a lot to the poets and poetesses who joined. Replies to classic poems were amazing but I think those replies to my love poems are more touching. Sad to say, only three awardees for the trophies…
FIRST PLACE (Gold Trophy + 300)
“Why?” by Angela Wells
in reply to my poem “Before I Die”
excerpt
Why would heaven take you?
Is it not known that as I look at you
I see, in your eyes, true beauty,
True life, and true love?
Heaven cannot need such a view as I do.
SECOND PLACE (Silver Trophy + 100)
“Before You Die” by Sanity
in reply to my poem “Before I Die”
excerpt
Before you die
my lips will close on yours
as one last time, our hearts will be as one
so soon the time is done
my love is yours to take with you to heaven.
THIRD PLACE (Bronze Trophy + 50)
“Farewell, Farewell” by Dave Al
in reply to my poem “Letting You Go”

I read most of the poems you had listed here and I really liked them. It was very hard to decide which one I wanted to write a reply to, but "If love's limits be" seemed to speak to me just a little more then the others. I really enjoyed the challange. You have some wonderful entries so far, and I wish you luck with your contest. Patti

I would like to try this... I'll see what I can come up with. I'd like to reply to Sonnet XVII by Pablo Neruda. I hope I can do good, because it's such a beautiful poem.

Oh, NO! I guess I've missed it. It looks like it would have been a great deal of fun to write something for this contest, my friend. Hugs, Patricia

I'll try to enter...kinda tears my heart up a bit, but maybe it will bring some healing to enter. I'm going through some issues and writing poems is an outlet. This is a fine contest and I suspect it will help people fall a little more in love with life...thanks. Peace Through Love. ET -
