A Poetic Challenge 2
Brush off the cobwebs and open the windows to your mind. I love to collect quotes and so I've decided to use them in my contests. In my last two contests I gave away over 1000 points in each contest and judged them fairly and promptly. I expect this contest to be no different.
This is a poetic challenge to use the following quote or some resemblance of it in a poem. You choose the format, you choose the subject but it must, and I repeat (since some people had a hard time understanding it last time) MUST, have this quote or some resemblance of this quote in the poem.
"Experience is a hard teacher because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards." ~Vernon Snaders Law
Some simple rules:
1. Not following the above requirement will get you disqualified.
2. No cutting/slashing poems
3. No STicKY CAps or chat lingo
4. Not a requirement, but it's always appreciated if you read reply to other entrants poems and/or mine
5. I'm allowing prewrites but they must meet the above stated requirement to be eligible
6. Most important...have fun
This contest is subject to close early depending on the number of entries
1st place: 300 points and a beautiful gold trophy
2nd place: 150 points and a shiny silver trophy
3rd place: 75 points and a dull bronze trophy
Honorable mentions will also receive points depending on how many I have left at the end of the contest.
Anyone who arises to this poetic challenge and follows the simple rules will be awarded 20 points simply for arising to the challenge.
Good Luck and have fun

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 28, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: Wow, the only problem about having a contest this specific is that it makes it difficult to judge. I read each and every entry a minimum of 4 times each and most many more times than that to come up with my final decision. If I could I'd give everyone a trophy as was everyone got an additional 7 points in applause. I'd like to thank you all again for arising to my poetic challenge and I will be starting another similar contest very shortly and hope to see you all enter again.
The final results were:
1st Place pattern by Mary Cat
2nd Place Ignorant Tires by sVentos crutCh
3rd Place Her Name Was Experience
Honorable Mentions ( no special order)
Lessons I Have Learned by Will I Am
Listen by Modern Mistress
Thank youEntries [2]

Ack! I tried doing a poem for this quote once, but it didn't turn out right. I hope you get some good entries

I rarely write poems for specific reasons. I write when I get an inspiration to write. Even then, it's only if I have the means available to do it. If I have a great idea, and I'm not where I can write it down, it's usually lost forever. There were several great ideas at the Poetry Forum yesterday, but I had forgotten my pen, so I couldn't write them down. I doubt I will do this, as there probably won't be time and there are so many other things I have to do. Thanks for the invitation though.

While im just a beginign writer, I dont think i can fully complete a poem with that quote yet, while I do have ideas on wat to say. I hope you do this particular contest again, later in the next few weeks, as i think then i will be able to complete this poem of mine, good luck to all who enter this contest!
