Okay, my second contest and I hope it to be as fun as my first. In this one, I am looking for a rather esoteric point of view. If you do not know the meaning of esoteric, then perhaps another contest would be more in lines with your poetry.
Who Is It that you see when you see your brother? Or your sister? And I do not mean the members of your immediate family, but rather our human family. When you see the person next to you on the bus, or the homeless person walking down the street, or the little child playing in your neighbor's yard, just Who exactly is it your are seeing?
I have some rather clear views on who it is we see, and am hoping to get other ideas as well. What I further hope for is some excellent poetry on this topic, and hope that whomever participates will give some deep thought on the topic before writing. Therefore, no pre-writes are allowed in this contest.
This contest is open until April 19th and will be judged by April 21st. However, these are subject to change depending on the whim of the contest holder. ME! If I do not have enough entries, then I will extend the contest. Also, the contest will close after 30 Entries.
There. That's it. Give me some great poetry. I will comment on all entries, although my comments seldom lean towards critiques. It is my belief that all poetry is personal, and therefore the domain of the poet. Who am I to critique such creativity? However, great poems stand on their own, and it is these that I call forth here.
The contest prizes will be awarded accordingly:
1st Place: 400 Points and Gold Trophy
2nd Place: 200 Points and Silver Trophy
3rd Place: 100 Points and Bronze Trophy
Honorable Mentions: Maybe, maybe not, depending on the quality of entries. Any honorable mentions I deem worthy will receive 25 points each. Other poems may receive applause.
Rules None, really. Commenting on other entries is always recommended, however.
Oh yes, Be Great!
UPDATE TO RULES Truly, there are some remarkable posts being entered into this contest, so I Highly recommend to all of you to read them, and comment accordingly. It will be worth your time!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on April 19, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: Well, to paraphrase the lament of many a contest holder, this was challenging to judge. So much so, that I am giving honorable mention to Every other entry that did not win a trophy. This is being done because I am highly impressed and inspired by the variety and creativity of all the entries. Such unique approaches and views on "Who Is It?" that mirror the uniqueness of each individual part of creation.

Even if I don't find the time to enter (which I sincerely hope to do), I can't wait to see what sort of entries this draws forth! Hope this goes well for you. A refreshing switch from the "hey, gimme anything ya want" contests of late. God bless and be well, Sim.

Wow, what an amazing contest, I just entered, first to enter -- so there are no entries yet. I guess I'll comment on some of your work instead of others?
Great contest idea!!
Take Care,
Jasmine

So much deepness...so little time...
Good luck with this contest...

Hi doug,
I've read most of the entries here and I am sure you will be having a difficulty in judging
You've got great entries here. I would like to join, hope I could come up with something. My brain is not really working right now. Hope you will find in here what you wanted. Goodluck! Cheers!

What a great contest idea! I can't wait to read the entries. I will sit this one out, as I won your last one. But I'll be ready and willing for your next contest!
I am looking forward to reading the great poems inspired by this!

A very enlightening idea to have as a contest. I truly wasn't aware that you were holding this although I have already commented on one entry. I look forward to the creative thoughts that go through this process for their entries.

Three days??? I have only three days to come up with something REASONABLE? Lord... God had seven days and I don't even get half that? Geesh... a monster's work is never done I tell ya.
-
Cosmic, Don't you know that You Too can Be God? Or Goddess, as the case may be? Three days is more than enough for a Goddess to Create...

Watuthink Watuwant? More than enough... lol... I've heard that before... but time is a local custom that doesn't exist outside of the human mind in the way that it exists within it. And how can a Cosmic One such as myself speak of time without speaking of space? Ahhhhhh... space... tis not the final frontier at all but rather the gray matter in-between one's ears that has yet to be explored. How many creations shall I manifest for you then my friend? Is there a limit to how much you can take? Ha....

When god made man, She made him out of string. She had a little left, so She left a little thing.
When god made woman, He made her out of lace. He didn't have enough, so He left a little space.
Here's to Space
Cheers!!
-
Ohhhh... but those little things expand into full blown great things during the exploration of that SPACE between us don't ya know? Te he.... awwwwww.... I'm sooooooooooooooo good at being bad it makes me giggle.

Great Contest
Can I have a kiss with me gold there cutie pie? I mean... if I were a race car driver I would be gettin a kiss with that trophy wouldn't I? Andthen some... PERHAPS??? Ahhhhhhh.... or so it would be in my idea of heaven at least. LUCKY number seven... Waduknow Watuwant... is that a profound number or what? I'm so blessed it boggles me mind sometimes. Thank you dawlin! Great contest... you provoked me into coming out for this contest after a long lull in my writing.... see how ya are! -
Yes, I see how I Am! Very happy to have evoked such a gem from you young lady. And of course, you are being Kissed as you read this!! Space is one of my very favorite things you know...
-
Wow, cosmic! I didn't realize it was number 7 for you! How very cosmic is that, huh!! WooooooHooooo...
And I repeat, Here's to Space!
-
(laughing at your 'space' poem) stopped by to read some (hence the guilt trip) and to THANK YOU for the points
would you enter my cheesy contest? "sisters" ??? please
-
lol, yeah, that little space poem is cute!
I will certainly give your contest a look, Michelle. Not to make excuses, but I'm going out of town soon and don't have much time to be as creative as I'd prefer.
The name alone sounds interesting!

-
I came back a little too late I see...
Ah well! The entries certainly made for some great reading!
I definitely wouldn't have wanted to judge this one....
God bless, Sim.
-
Yes, it Was tough, Sim! But I asked for tough, and I'd prefer this to have so many entries that aren't even fun to read.
Thanks for commenting on so many of the entries!

Oh, wow, Doug! I am so humbled that you felt Beauty Unseen was worthy of silver. I especially like that trophy, because it reminds me of God trying us by fire like a silversmith until He sees Himself in us. Thank you so much!
And, congratulations to all the winners. I'm not at all surprised you had such a hard time judging. There were some really great poems in this contest.
Lots of love and hugs, B♥nnieQ
-
Bonnie, your poem is more than worthy. Thank you for entering the contest. I only wish I could have given More trophies!
