Judgement (Contest)

Two options:

1. What happens when people rush to judgement a little too early?

Write your heart, in a poem or a column, about the feelings, emotions, causes and consequences of such an action.

2. Read a poem from any of the following poets, and write about the idea you see in their poem. They have a variety of poems on different themes, and so you have a lot of options to write upon. If your poem could be a response or a continuation of their work, it would be wonderful.

Gold: 300 points
Silver: 100 points
Bronze: 50 points

Please note: Maatkara, MargaretG and Yemassee have gratefully accepted to judge. Thanks to them.

Applause to all honorable mentions.

Contest is Over

  • Contest was judged on April 9, 2005
  • Rewards: Gold: 300
  • Final notes:
    Dear Friends,

Thank you all very much for your kind participation in the contest. It was a pleasure and honour to be able to read all those wonderful poems, with vivid ideas and varying perspectives, all juxtaposed next to each other. I would like to thank Maatkara, Margaret and Yemassee for their help in judging the contest.

To let out a secret - four people judged the contest(including me; and each one had different choices. The ones here are only my personal prejudices!!! I believe that one really can't compare poetry; so the judgement of the contest is merely a feedback of what I could personally identify with better.

Here are the poems which were in the final running:

gold - First Judgements by AnnD
    silver - Can I choose by Razors-Egde
    bronze - Critics by Windworder

    honourable mentions:

    Dont pretend
    Visions
    Rush to Judgement

I assume it is either option 1 or 2, right? We don't have to write about one of the poets work, instead we could just write about the consequences ect. of rushing to judgement? Sorry I just want to be clear before I enter and look ridiculous

Cool I'm listed. How scary would that be if someone emulated and responded to one of my items in my style, lol. It would be something like this:

    And then the cow said
    Please Mr BossMan
I didn't mean to sue you
I'll give back the milk van.

Ummm, people better pick one of the other talented writers listed to respond to.

Hey (light bulb going off above my head) I'll write a poem responding to my own poem!!!!

    Nah, been there, done that.

    Good luck with the contest.

Dear Yem (I have permission to call you that),
I don't know you much, but from the comments I have seen on Mari and Margaret's pages, it is fun to read something from you. Let people see and try imitating you... we'll have more to laugh upon.
    Best wishes,
    Sau.

I would enter, but I have no idea who the people on your list are and I don't really do the whole judgement angle. Sorry, but I hope you get a lot of people to enter. There seems to be a lot of contests that don't get nearly the amount of entries they should. Good luck!

Sorry Sau, I can barely manage to write in my own style and carry a complete thought of my own let alone try to continue or mimick anyone elses. As for topic one, it just isn't the sort of thing I write about.
I'll promote you and wish you luck with your contest.
