HI all and welcome to my first contest.
What I want you lot to do is imagine a fantasy world. Perhaps a world from a book you've read or a game you've played, maybe even from a film! Now I want you to picture yourself in that world. Who would you be? Perhaps a noble paladin who searches tombs for an undead king who killed your parents. A blacksmith looking for materials to make the ultimate weapon. Perhaps even a squire who tends to a knights horse. Maybe go sci-fi and your a duel-light saber wielding dark sith? You tell me.
I want short stories or poems describing what your character looks like (including what he wears and if armed with anything) I want to know their name, whether they are on a quest or life goal, or perhaps a part of a longer story that features them in detail. The choice is yours (Acrostics using the characters name was one idea i had but doubted it would allow enough detail. Feel free to prove me wrong)
Rules
1) You can enter both poems and stories but since you can only choose contest or story contest, can those writing stories put "(Story)" in the title.
2) limit of 3 characters per entrant (if you wrote a poem about one, I want a story of the other and then if u have a 3rd, try an acrostic
) NB As it's my first contest I am limiting it to 100 entrants, sorry if people miss out due to this but it will encourage me to make another contest!
3) No erotica (it's not that kind of fantasy
)
4) I'm a big fan of fantasy book and I'm used to swearing, but please do not overuse else I'll probably stop reading.
5) Be creative, don't be afraid to make something really strange like a half-orc half-merman who is king of the seas! Give it your all. Remember to have fun
6) Feel free to comment on mine or any ones work but it's not a deciding factor
7) Lastly feel free to put explanations in your author comments along with "I can't feel my legs" so I know you've read my boring rules.
1st Place 400 points
2nd Place 150 Points
3rd Place 50-100 Points depending how many I have at the end.
I will make a list of others that stood out (using the character names more than the poem names to show my appreciation)
HAVE FUN!
(P.S. The opening chapter to my own story is an example of what I'm after for stories, but perhaps more detail on the character than the world around him i.e. the fight scene in my chapter)
EDIT: Sorry to extend the contest by a week on short notice but i jjust remembered I have a college project to finish off which will take up the weekend that i was hoping to use to judge this contest. The following weekend is when i shall do this
Sorry again on the short notice of this decision

This certainly sounds like a contest Sock would enjoy, but 'tis her muse I am not so sure about
Been hiding from me lately, but I shall try to come up with something worthy of such a spiffy contest!
...I can't feel my legs, eh?
Silly little Machew

A great idea for a contest, certainly worth trying for. Pity my new piece is coming along so badly otherwise i would enter that
great job!
-
this would be great
-
I am so going to have to enter this... If I can get it down right... I have all these little wourlds, floating around in my head, and I've never been able to get them down and portray them accurately... I am seriously considering entering this...
-
Great idea RM!!! I'll get right to work!!!
-
Awesome contest idea. I think I'll tell a story.
-
Hmmm... interestingg.. I think I'll come back to this after my exams... just a doubt if my piece is really long can I break it up into two or three bits and post it or would u prefer it in 1 go...?
-
I'm after quality more then quantity. If i can picture your character and imagine what they'd do in a typical situation then you have my attention. In one go would be easier if it's the same character. Seperate the parts by extra spaces between paragraphs?
-
kay... hmm... mind is kinda clogged with biology at the moment...
-
hey babe. i entered two prewrites. when you read them (if)...read 'A Fate Chosen Unknown' first and then "A Silent Beginning".. even though "A Silent Beginning" says that it is poem three but the second poem is described in the third so i think you will be able to understand it. feel free to read the second poem titled "A Silent Death" if you wish.
-
Ekkk, I forgot about this I will have to beat myself into getting what I was working on done... Awesome contest idea!
-
grumbles I apologise for not having judged it over the weekend just gone, it just flew by and i realised on the sunday evening that i had completely forgot about judging this contest, sorry about that. If it doesn't get judged by the end of this week I shall dedicate my May day holiday towards it. So it will be judged by a week today if not sooner
-
Umm....not meaning to harass, but its been over a week. I'm not meaning to rush you but I really want to see the winner.
-
ok babe. i dont want to sound mean... but now its almost a month. aren't you like a moderator on this site. i would think you be on constantly...there really isnt all that much to read. i really wanted to enter other contest with my writes..but i want to to judge first. please, no offence, but come on now, im sure you can find 10 min a day to just read like 2 poems and eventually judge.
-
I'm in aggreement with everyone else... please judge soon!
-
for the extra points mentioned for ones who didn't get honerable mentions you all got applauds
-
All i can say is that i loved it!
