INTRODUCTION
~1~~O~~1~
Thanks for checking out my latest in my string of contests I've been doing. This contests is for fantasy writes.
Oky, I would especially love to see all the background histories of the characters of the All Fantasy Group Post, but that's not all I would like here. What I am looking for is a bit of imagination with pre-made characters. That means that I have a character for you that I want you to take and graph a story from. No altering the character, please, it's not nice.
On to the technical stuff...I've organized this work so that it's easier for you and myself to find whatever it is we are looking for. But as that I took all this time to type all of this out, I expect you to take the time and decency to actually read through it. If you don't it's only yourself that will get hurt because you might forget something and I'll DQ you for it.
I don't play around with this either. I will DQ whomever I please whenever I please, but I will do so only with enough cause. You know, like you forget to do one of the rules or something.
The order of this contests is as follows:

2. (

OPTIONS
and
LISTINGS
~2~~O~~2~
Options are your choices (obviously). Choose at least one of these to put into your write(s). All information from the option you select and all the listings you use must be present in the comment box of your write. (The section below your write) You can put in as many of these as you please, but if it makes the work incomprehensible or boring or some such thing like that then I'll DQ it because I don't want stuff like that in my contest. Meaning: Make sure that it follows everything the contest requires!
1. PreTold Tales. Chose a work listed below and use one or more of the main characters in a work of your own. Be sure to give credit where credit is due!
A] Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years
http://allpoetry.com/Story/955721
B] Varun
http://allpoetry.com/Story/1083296
C] The Power of the World
http://allpoetry.com/Story/882998
D] The Ship of Time
http://allpoetry.com/Story/954104
E] Rose Of Many Colors
http://storywrite.com/Story/1132791
F] Eyrion's Adventures ~Prologue~
http://storywrite.com/Story/994853
G] All Fantasy Group Post Chap one ~The Adventure Starts~
http://storywrite.com/Story/1022800
H] The Swords of Destiny
http://stroywrite.com/Poem/920144
I] The Reawakened Destiny
http://storywrite.com/Poem/1021121
2. Fantasy Legends. Write a work that tells of one of these legends (stories, if you will). It must have some sort of plot.
A] Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
B] Sleeping Beauty
C] Beauty and the Beast
D] Paul Bunyan
E] Lords of the Rings
F] The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
3. Hear not, See not, Do not. Choose one of the five senses (hearing, touching, smelling, tasting, seeing). Get rid of it. Now tell me a story about one of these things.
A] A dance in a country barn
B] A battle between two very angry men (or women, if you want)
C] A song that an opera singer is singing.
D] A dragon that has come to take someone to their lair forever.
E] A fickle, mythical creature that appears to be you in a different universe.
4. What was that? Anything I missed above. But be careful, because I'm awfully picky about what I like.
~3~~O~~3~
REQUIREMENTS
~3~~O~~3~
I would love for you to do these things below, but you aren't required to. In other words, these are the breakable rules. I know it's annoying and everything, but I figure free publicity is free publicity!
1. Read and comment on my running story, "Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years"
2. Read and comment on one of my works or that of another contestants.
3. Donate points to me. This will just make this contests have points for silver and bronze.
4. Apply to my group, "Masters and Mistresses of Writing"
http://allpoetry.com/Application/1065209
5. Apply to the group "All Fantasy"
http://storywrite.com/Application/940822
6. Request a pre-judging critique (only available during certain times of day/night and not available during the last 24 Hours of this contest)
~4~~O~~4~
RULES
~4~~O~~4~
These are a must. If you don't follow all of them, you are going to get DQ'd. That's final. I have these for a reason and if writers hadn't given me reasons to have them then I would have made them. But writes have given me reason and so here they are, live with it. However, you MUST NOT DO RULE NUMBER SEVEN. I put that there to see if you've actually read my contest. Read carefully now!
1. All information as to the option(s) and listing(s) you selected must be in the comment box at the end of your entry.
2. Grammaticks. You must have a sense of spelling and grammar. If you don't, reading your work will be much to difficult for me and I shall skip over it and go to something easier on my eyes.
3. Sticky Caps. No.
4. Comment Box. Use this section. It's there for a reason and I like to see what my contestants have to say outside of their writings.
5. Prewrites shall be available mostly because I know that almost all the characters for the Group collaboration post from All Fantasy now have backgrounds and stories attached to them. Make sure they fit in either option one or two ONLY!
6. Negative and/or Non-Building Comments. I don't like mean comments or whatever you want to call it. If you leave a note via IM or commentary, then you're DQ'd. I will not deal with people that are rude or what have you. That means to myself or on other entries to this contest. I don't deal well AT ALL with negativity.
7. Write "This old freedom train is such a long time in a comin' there ain't no one can afford it so you better climb aboard it. Give me that Freedom, give me that Freedom, give me that freedom, freedom, freedom, Ch-ch." in your comment box.
8. Anything over PG-18 will be DQ'd unless it is really really really good. That means if it were in a movie or some such and someone that is 18 wasn't allowed in alone, it's not acceptable unless it's really really really good. Also, cursing must be kept at a minimal.
9. Adult Language and Context. This is a big no-no. Don't do it.
10. All stories are allowed as long as they fit the stuff above and are somewhat understandable. I don't mean that I want something a first grader could read, but not something that seems to be either hyper-college or rocket scientist based either.
11. Proof of Reading. Write whatever you want, but say that you have read all the rules. Place this in your comment box, please.
12. No abstract, non-story based works. This is a "story" contest for a reason. Because I want a story. You can write poetry all you want, but it must have a story line.

FINAL COMMENTS
~5~~O~~5~
Remember now, you really need to check what that beginning paragraph said in each section. They can tip you off to some of my more sneaky filterings. *hint, hint* If you don't listen to my directions, you will be DQ'd. And I don't know very many people that like being DQ'd.
I will post any alterations under the following section should I change anything. This is mostly for your own benefit so that you know I have altered the contests in some way. While I do not actually have to do this, I feel it's somewhat nice to do this said thing so that you will know that the above will not be altered, but all alterations will be quite visible below. Thanks for all your most wonderful time and good luck.
May you enjoy the challenge, and write masterpieces worth a thousand dollars, and may I enjoy every last droplet of this said gold.
Oh yes, and good luck to all you hopeful contestants!

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 31, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 300
- Final notes: I don't know why, but these were great. I loved the strange version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, but it just seemed to be missing something, so it only got silver. I love reading BriarRose's works (as of late) and so her work got gold. As for bronze...well, I wish I could just say you both tide, but I left that one up to my brothers...sorry.

Wow... lots of rules. *dies*
-
to many requirements for me.. maybe I'll get around to reading them all and enter..

I'm quite interested in this contest...are you extending the deadline? And I was also wondering, if I chose to retell a fantasy Legend, can I modernize it? Set it in today's time? Just curious, ttfn!
-
Thanx
I shall extend the deadline for you. I think four days should be enough, yes? And as for retelling one of the stories...you'll have to explain how the characters are in a futuristic (or past) tense from when they were actually there. I mean, did they time-warp (and all its affects) or did they go through some universal shifter thingy, something like that. You'll have to explain how they got from where they were to where you're putting them. I hope that helps. -
I wasn't meaning shift the exact characters to today's time, I was simply saying, use modern things and people to tell on old story, kind of like the movie Beautician & The Beast. I just meant, take an old story and put a new spin on it with modern settings and modern people.
-
Hm...well...let's see what you come up with then. I just don't want something sci-fi vs. fantasy based is all.
