Muses,in Greek mythology,were the nine daughters of the god Zeus and Mnemosyne,the goddess of memory.The Muses were believed to inspire not only poets,but all artists.
What I want for this contest is for you to chose one of the daughters to write about.Take me way into the realm of that Muse.Show me how you relate to her.
Your poem must include her name and what she is the muse of.She must be brought to life so i want to see the physical as well as spiritual aspects of her.The name of your poem must be the name of the chosen muse.Not to do so means disqualification.
Rules:
1.no prewrite(if you happen to have one im me and I will review it for possible entry)
2.use spell check and proofread for I will check proper grammar.
3.2 entries per person
4.no chat lingo
5.comment on 2 other entries and list them in your author's comments
6.add a background picture.extra points will be given for the best one.

I have a personal favorite,so whoever writes about it will get bonus points.

2nd place-300pts
3rd place-200pts
There will be five honorable mentions that will receive 30pts each.Best background will receive 100pts.A poem about my favorite muse will receive 50pts.A poem can win best background without winning first place and my favorite muse may not be the first place winner.One poem could take everything.

Fantastic idea for a poetry contest. I absolutly love greek mythology, but since I have just started reading/studying it, I haven't got the chance to look at the muses. Anyway, I think I will do a little reserch and see if I can get some insperation for this. I want to enter this one. Hopefully, I will be able to write a poem. Also, this is very unique and different. Have a nice day/night and hopefully you will see a poem from me when you judge this.

I apologize I did not realize that this was a contest since it was in the featured area... you may want to rethink your font color against this beautiful background you cannot see it... had to highlight the words so that i could see it. I love history, astronomy, song writing, dancing, and acting...this is going to be a tough choice, but if I can I'll see what I can write about at least one of the Muses (probably Terpsichore...I have always loved her name), if not a combination of the five that seem to be part of me. I am deeply enraptured by mythology (even have a contest idea circulating around it), so I hope that I can get something in over Spring Break (if I can just get them all to settle down so I can concentrate!)

I know that we were to write on the one of the nine muses of greek mythology, but as in all mythology, there is a duality...that is the reason for the other set of acrostics that I entered, to balance the scale of my life with all the muses surrounding my id. So the second one is not to be judged, but just a continuation of the the first one. Thank you for allowing me to showcase these poems in your contest. Gregg

I don't know how to make a custom background either. I don't have a silver or gold membership or anything like that, and I don't know if users who don't pay can make custom backgrounds. I really want to enter this contest, though.
