Dragon Tales (in Contest)

~1~~1~~1~ INTRODUCTION ~1~~1~~1~
Welcome to my newest creation...well as of right now at least.  This is number eight for me and that means I think I got all the kinks and such out of my contesting format as such.

Anyway, this one is for fantasy-based poems or stories.  I especially want dragon stories.  Just a dragon mentioned in the story could (though not necessarily) be enough.  The only proviso is that there must be a plot line that makes sense and such.  You know, like a normal story line, regardless of what it is you're going to write.  Of course, that means I don't want anything that doesn't have something obvious pertaining to fantasy and something that goes nowhere in a set plot.  So think before you post here.

I've organized my contests in such a way that it will be easier for you, the hopeful contestant, and myself to find whatever it is that you or myself are looking for.  Be careful when you actually read this contest.  I tend to explain each section prior to listing it and that may help you in the end.  Actually, if you don't you'll end up DQ'd and you'll just have to read to find out why.

The order of this contests is as follows:

1. ( ) Introduction
2. ( ) Options and ( ) Listings
3. ( ) Requirements
4. ( ) Rules
5. ( ) Final Comments
6. ( ) Later Additions

~2~~2~~2~ OPTIONS and LISTINGS ~2~~2~~2~
Options are your choices.  Chose at least one of these to put into your write.  All information for your Options and Listings must be present either at the beginning or end of your write to be entered for points.  You can put in as many as you please, but if it makes the story make absolutely no sense, then it's DQ'd.  Remember the basics before you decide on your option(s) and listing(s).  Meaning make sure it's what this contest is for.

1. Dragonic Species.  Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format about one of the types of dragons below.  It can as many different types of dragons as you please, but the main character (at least) must be this type of dragon.  Your main character may be a mix, but it must be at least part of one of these below.  No proviso.
Water Dragon.  Two or four fins instead of legs.  Tail normally long, sometimes with rudder-like form like a dolphin or shark tail.  Nose is situated at top of head (like whale or something) for better breathing.  Tend to have gills in some cases, but not required to.  Normally either either fish or seaweed.  Live in waters that they can easily submerge in.
Fire Dragon. Four legs with dulled talons (like bear claws).  Tail normally stubby, but can be longer if desired.  Normally equiped with horns and spiky fin down back to end of tail.  Tend to have forked tongues.  Normally resistant to fire, but not required to be so.  Eating mostly meats, but vegetation is also edible.  Live in caves or run-down stone housings large enough to store hoard and dragon comfortably.
Flying Dragon. Two legs only with very sharp talons (like a hawk's).  Tail normally long and slender to help flight.  Horns always present, other such additives optional.  Tend to have normal tongues.  Usually breathing icy mist that freezes on contact, but not required.  Eating mostly vegetation, but meat is allowed.  Live in sky-castles, high caves or other such places far, far away from the group as possible (but still in the atmosphere).
Thunder Dragon. Legs (if applicable) are thin, with extra long talons, not needed if not desired.  Tail normally longer for better thunder conductivity.  Normally only one horn, but none or two are sometimes seen as well.  Usually harness thunder, Lightning and such vicious weathers.  Tongues are always forked and very slender.  Eats mostly fish or poultry (birds).  Live wherever they please as long as it's comfortable for dragon, hoard and captive maiden(s).
Ice Dragon. Four legs, w/o exception, talons normally of average dragonic length.  Tail normally slender and well armoured.  Normally two horns, but sometimes may have none.  Tongues are never forked, but of whatever thickness desired.  Prefers fruits and some vegitables, meats almost never.  Normally inhabits high places, away from mortals.  Capturing any goods, maidens, hoarde or otherwise, always have a cause.

2. Land Ahoy! Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format.  It must take place only in the landscape you've chosen below.  It cannot have any other landscape, but you may alter the landscape to better fit your wants, but not so much as to change it entirely.  (So a desert must stay a desert and a mountain can't be a mountain valley)
Mountain Range of Devil's Anthem.  This range is filled with sharp crags, steep passes, dark caves and sparse vegetation.  The only place where a good bounty of vegetation is at the entrance to your main character's home.  Rivers and waterfalls run as you see fit.  Storms and any such other thing are your own device as long as you keep with the basic design herein.
Oceanic Waters of Tikka.  This sea is filled with aquatic life and plenty of seaweed and algae and whatever else comes with a sea.  Coral is clumped here and there where islands used to be, but have since worn away, leaving only the coral reef behind.  No shorelines are allowed unless on a very very very small island surrounded by coral reef.  No mountains or anything, and no venturing further into island than shore.
Prairie Lands of Shir.  This endless hilly land is covered in long grasses and weeds.  Trees surround the only river coursing through this land.  The water is shallow and wide.  River is not very fast either.  No tributaries in area.  Some old, craggy trees are spotted throughout land (away from water).  Storms are always eminent.
Forest of Yddi.  This is a large forested area with a few small clearings, but nothing more than a few (and small at that).  Rivers and creeks run through it, but there is very little open sky to see from under the canopy of trees.  Underbrush is thick and hard to get through.  Wildlife is bountiful and peaceful.  Everything is growing and prosperous.
Caverns of Gix Mines.  Wooden beams normally keep the tunnels from caving in.  All corridors lead to gigantic main room and then to smaller rooms off of that.  Old abandoned mining tunnels.  Carts and such things are everywhere.  Smallest tunnel must be large enough for a 10-year-old child to fit through (at least).  Light my come through a few cracks (or a small cave-in, but no actual lanterns allowed.

3. Tell a Tale.  Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format of ONE of these plots listed below.  You may only choose one of these plot lines.  I shall be using the name Joe in this context to better make sense here, but you may replace Joe's name with whatever name you fancy for your main character.
Joe runs away from home and becomes a warrior (good or bad).
Joe gets captured by something and must rescue him/her-self.
Joe goes out to meet someone and falls in love with that someone.
Joe makes dinner and can't light the fire; uses fire-breath to solve problem.
Joe finds a kingdom that makes only cookies and decides to demand cookies from every subject spared.

4. Written Names.  Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format with the leading (or a leading) character with one of these names below.  You must select at least two names, but only one must be a main character.  Do not alter the spelling of any of these names.  You may give them second and last and whatever names you please, but these are their first and foremost names.
 -->Female
Jaycee-Anne (you can use Jan for short)
  Rytta
  Leticia
  Mable
Anastasia (you can use Anna for short)
  Rogue
 -->Male
  Whisper
  Talon
  Jason
Lucas (you can use Luke for short)
  Abel
Richard (you can use Richie for short)

5. Itemizing.  Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format.  Choose at least four of the objects listed below.  Your character must use all four of these items in some way.  They can't just pick them up and then put them back down or whatever.  Actually use them.  Using parts of item is not acceptable, but breaking it is.
  fruit (you choose the type)
dress (any version of dress, but must be a one-piece PG-18 version)
arrow (the type that is shot from a bow or crossbow)
shield (any shape and size, but must be an actual shield)
glass eyeball (any color you want, any size)
black whip (whatever material and type, but must be black)
wig (any sort of color, but must be puffy-curly like a clown's wig
radio (can only play country, classical, christian or oldies)
pillow (must be clean and in a pillow case)
pencil (not a pen. Must be made of wood with lead in middle, and eraser on end)
glasses (must be worn by someone.  Must be thick, black, nerdy glasses, no tape)

6. Tangent Tales.  Write a story in any form that has a recognizable story format.  Look at on of the stories that I've listed below.  From that story, take the main character(s) and put them in another situation and write their story.  Leading characters are those that do not disappear from the tale as it progresses onwards.  You must select only one.  The leading characters are listed with the titles to their respective stories, but their personalities are not given, so you must find out for yourself what they are.  For better assistance, I have also included the address to the first chapters of these writes.

~3~~3~~3~ REQUIREMENTS ~3~~3~~3~
I would love for you to do these things below, but they aren't required, but hey, selfish publicizing and such things...  That means you won't get disqualified for not doing these things, but I figured, it's free publicizing of certain things, so why not?

1. Read and comment on one of my running series, __Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years__ __Eivie__
2. Read and comment on any one of my own or the contestant(s) other writes.
3. Donate points to me.  This will just make this contest have more points (given to Silver and Bronze)
4. Apply to my group, "Masters and Mistresses of Writing"  (It's listed under the group type "Organization."  Here's the link: http://allpoetry.com/Application/1065209
5. Request a pre-judging critique (only available during certain times of day/night, and not available during the last 24 hours of this contest)

~4~~4~~4~ RULES ~4~~4~~4~
These are a must.  If you don't follow these, you are going to get disqualified.  That's that.  I have these for a reason and if writers didn't give me reasons to have rules, then there wouldn't be any rules, but there are, so live with it.  However, you MUST NOT DO RULE NUMBER ONE.  I put that there to see if you've actually read my contest.

1. Write "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater, had a wife and couldn't keep her.  He put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well." in your comment box.
2. All information as to the option you selected and what of the listings you chose must be in the comment box.
3. Grammaticks.  You must have a sense of spelling and grammar.  If you don't reading your work will be much to difficult to me and I shall skip it and go to something easier on my eyes.
4. Sticky Caps.  I haven't the slightest understanding to why someone uses this stuff and I don't like it.  It's hard enough to read have the things anyway, I don't want more trial than need be for it.
5. Comment Box.  You must use it in some fashion or another.
6. Prewrites are not allowed at this moment.  I shall be allowing them later on if I receive enough requests for them.  Anyone that sends me a request to allow prewrites will receive an IM notifying them if I do allow them.
7. Negative and/or Non-Building Comments.  I don't like mean comments or whatever you want to call it.  If you leave a note via IM or commentary, then you're DQ'd.  I will not deal with people that are rude or what have you.  That means to myself or on other entries to this contest.  I don't deal well AT ALL with negativity.
8. Anything over PG-18 will be DQ'd unless it is really really really good.  That means if it were in a movie or some such and someone that is 18 wasn't allowed in alone, it's not acceptable unless it's really really really good.  Also, cursing must be kept at a minimal.
9. Adult Language and Context.  This is a big no-no.  Don't do it.
10. All stories are allowed as long as they fit the stuff above and are somewhat understandable.  I don't mean that I want something a first grader could read, but not something that seems to be either hyper-college or rocket scientist based either.
11. Proof of Reading.  Write whatever you want, but say that you have read all the rules.  Place this in your comment box, please.
12. No abstract, non-story based works.  This is a "story" contest for a reason.  Because I want a story.  You can write poetry all you want, but it must have a story line.

~5~~5~~5~ FINAL COMMENTS ~5~~5~~5~
Remember now, you really need to check what that beginning paragraph said in each section.  They can tip you off to some of my more sneaky filterings.  *hint, hint*  If you don't listen to my directions, you will be DQ'd.  And I don't know very many people that like being DQ'd.

I will post any alterations under the following section should I change anything.  This is mostly for your own benefit so that you know I have altered the contests in some way.  While I do not actually have to do this, I feel it's somewhat nice to do this said thing so that you will know that the above will not be altered, but all alterations will be quite visible below.  Thanks for all your most wonderful time and good luck.

May you enjoy the challenge, and write masterpieces worth a thousand dollars, and may I enjoy every last droplet of this said gold.
Oh yes, and good luck, again.

~6~~6~~6~ LATER ADDITIONS ~6~~6~~6~
At this time, there are only two alteration, please check back later to see if there are any more.
Everything in the RULES section of this write must be either in your write or in the comment box below your write please.
Someone alerted me to another type of dragon I missed.  There is now an Ice Dragon for option one.  Also, I was asked if the dragon could be a mix, and I figured that would be okay as well as long as I know about it.
