This was an idea I got out of boredom. You may enjoy giving this one a try as it is a pretty funny learning experience.
What you need to do for this contest is visit your favorite search engine (ex: Google, Yahoo!, Lycos, etc). Type in your full name, not including your middle name. Just your first and last name, it gives you a lot more options. Take a look at what comes up. You don't have to visit the sites or anything, just get a general idea of who these people are that show up. Write down what it says about each person, whether it's their job, the interest they appear to have, whatever it is it says about them.
With this new found information, you have a few options:
1. pick one and make them your evil twin
2. combine them all in to one person
3. tell me about attempting to try everything these people do, like, etc.
4. tell about an experience meeting them all at the same time.
5. tell me about all of your own stuff that showed up that you forgot even existed... but you have to write a second piece if you chose this one that follows one of the other options.
6. make them your alter ego or make it out like they are all really you. (yes, you'd be really busy!)
7. if you have your own idea you'd like to try, IM and tell me about it. I'll give you the OK to enter it in to the contest.
Now, the evil rules:
1. no erotica, suicide, cutting, etc.
2. No WrItInG lIkE tHiS
3. try to keep it generally G rated, which means no cursing and the like
4. make sure their first and last name are exactly the same as yours. You will, obviously, find sites listing people and some will have one or the other name that is yours. These people don't count. Only people who have the same first and last name.
5. use humor if possible
6. in your author comments, list your notes of who these people were and how many you got or ended up choosing from
7. DO NOT post your last name. Or the last names of the people you find, which should be obvious since it will be the same name as yours. Your first name is needed, but I'm keeping you on the honor system with last names. We don't need people getting in to trouble or anything, so stay anon.
8. If you happen to have a very unusual name that ends up with no one else in the world having that exact name combo, you also have options. Try using the name of a family member, your best friend, your significant other, etc. Someone very close to you. But let me know in your author notes that this was the case.
9. Enter as many times as you would like. But try not to do more than two per option.
10. I have no rule about reading my poetry or anyone else's poetry, so don't feel obligated to do so.
11. Try to make the poem at least 15 lines long.
12. If you don't follow these rules, you will have your piece removed from the contest. So make sure you read them all!
Have a good time doing this one. Believe me, this is really funny on occasion. So far it appears I am a lawyer, a psychologist, I play rugby, I also play softball, and I attend seven different colleges across the USA and one in Germany. LOL!
NOTE: The date has been moved to the 19th in hopes of getting a few more entries! Please tell your friends and family or anyone else. I'd like at least a few more entries before judging, but if not, I can work with the few that are here.

Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on March 20, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 350
- Final notes: We didn't get a whole lot of entries to this contest, but those who did enter... I hope you had fun doing this! The pieces were wonderfully done, every one brought a smile to my face. I was amazed to see what people found out about people who shared their names. It was neat, wasn't it? LOL! Thanks for entering, and, as I said, I hope you had fun doing this one!

i once read in a readers digest about some doctor with the same first and last name as me , but i think that it was spelled one letter differantly, coincidently, i was thinkin bout that today haha, anyway... later

I only found myself. No one else shares my name

We Both, me too. I'm the only me. Sadness in a way. But we both are unique. Ok, bad pun. I admit it..
-
Ha. This sounds interesting.....
-
Ha ha... my name ends up with no matches in any search engine of the world. My parents gave me a weird spelling of my name and detached me from all my "evil twins".
Mandy (this is just the nickname, btw) -
I didn't even find myself!! lol
-
This is an excellent idea for a contest. Very creative and very original. It will hopefully inspire a lot of great entries. Good luck with the judging.
-
I am alone too! I have a WAY weird last name! But this ssounds like a cool contest! I might use my friend's name to make her evil twin...muhahahah!
XoXo

I'd enter but I'm afraid of what I'll find. This is a really great idea though.
-
This is a pretty funny idea... I may have to try it
-
What a GREAT contest idea!! Of course, if I do find my evil twin, I'm not so sure I can get her to obey all the rules. She'll probably start yelling out strings of obsenities and write erotica! LOL Hugs, Patricia
-
Oh dear sister of mine, I have this odd feeling that your evil twin would still only be half as evil as me. LOL!
-
maybe you could search your first name alone...then your last name alone & mix the results.
-
LMAO
-
If you want to try that I don't have a problem with it at all! I'd like to see the results!
-
Hmmm, I'll try that. Danke schon for the suggestion.
-
odd

THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE GREATEST CONTEST ON AP I'VE EVER SEEN! I prolly won't enter cause i have a very unusual last name, but i enjoy looking at the poems! -->The-Pickle-Poet<-- AKA Zach
-
Hmmm... I've done this before, and surprisingly enough, I'm the only one who comes up. It's a good idea - for those of us who don't possess unique names... LOL
-
Lol I actually Love this idea...yet I'm the only one that comes up...*sigh*
-
Sigh. I only have one alternate self and the only thing I can tell about her is that she has a dog. How very boring.
Too bad. I liked this idea. -
Thanks so much for the gold trophy. This was a unique idea for a contest and I had lots of fun writing this and looking up things on the net. Congrats also to the other winners - some pretty good stuff here.

Thanks, Erin, for awarding me the bronze in your contest. That's probably the most fun I've had in a contest. Hugs, Patricia
