Fantastic Stories

~1~1~1~ INTRODUCTION ~1~1~1~
Welcome to my latest contest.  This one is for fantasy-based stories.  That means, no anything else unless it has fantasy in it.  So if you want to write about elves in space, I guess that can work...but it's highly irregular to say the least.  I've organized my contests in such a way that it will be easy for you, the hopeful contestant, and myself to find whatever it is that you are looking for.  Be careful when you read this contest, for I do tend to bide by my rules in such a way that you will be disqualified if you don't follow them.  I certainly hate DQ's.

The order of this contest is as follows:

1. ( ) Introduction 2. ( ) Options and ( ) Listings 3. ( ) Requirements 4. ( ) Rules 5. ( ) Final Comments 6. ( ) Later Additions

~2~2~2~ OPTIONS and LISTINGS ~2~2~2~
Options are your choices.  Chose (at least) one.  Below each respective option is a listing.  You need to chose from this listing based on what is said in the option above it.  All information for Options and Listings must be presented either at the beginning of your write or in the comment box situated at the bottom of your write.

1. Kindred Writings.  Write a story (short or otherwise) about one of the kin below.  It can only contain the one kin you select, no other type is allowed.  Only one species of kin as well, you cannot sub-species dwarfs to goblins or whatever.  For whatever species of fantasy-based character you select below, you are allowed to have as many mundane characters as you please, just no fantasy characters outside of the kin you select.  (animals, humans, plants, whatever in that respect)
Centaurs.  Flying centaurs, regular centaurs, and any variation are all considered as merely centaurs in this listing.
Dragons.  All manner of reptilian fire-breathers.  Whether two-feet or more.
Elf.  Only the light-based kind.  Like those seen in real young children's books.
Dark Elf.  Only dark-based kind.  Ranger-type characters that broke off from the elven culture many years before.
Fairy.  Any manner of tiny, flying humanoid-like character.  They cannot use magic without training.
Leprechaun.  Basic tiny-humanoid with some sense of magics and such things like those of Disney movies.

2. Fantastic Lands.  Write a story (of any length) in one of these "dramatic" stages.  It can only take place at this particular location.  You may create whatever habitations you want there, but the location must not be changed.  You can describe the place as you please, but what is written below is final.  Nothing larger than a medium sized town, somewhere in the population range of 500-600 residence.
Mountain of Devil's Anthem.  On top of a mountain called Devil's Anthem.  The mountain is very windy and very snowy.
Out to sea.  The endless waters are about and there is nothing but sun.  No wind, no nothing...just endless boring sun.
Prairie Paradise.  An endless rolling hill-land of waving weeds.  Some trees dot about.  Long, wavy, shallow river cutting through middle.
Greenbelt Forest.  Cheery forest glade with many vines, creepers, sturdy limbs and such things as are great for climbing, swings etc.

3. Tell a Tale.  Write a story of any sort.  Chose a plot below and work it in to a fantasy-based story somehow.  I shall be using the name Joe in this context to better make sense here, but you may replace Joe with whatever name you wish.
Joe gets an application and a job.
Joe makes a grilled cheese sandwich.
Joe takes a girl out to a fancy diner.
Joe takes a guy out to a fancy diner.
     Joe irons a shirt.
     Joe goes to boot camp.
     Joe forgets his way home.

4. Written Names.  Write a story of any sort.  Chose at least two names below.  Use one of them as the leading (or a leading) character and the other as the opposing character.  Basically like Aladdin and Jafar scenario.  You may not alter their spelling, but you may choose whatever middle name and so forth that you like, but the names picked below must be their first and foremost name.
         -->Female
    Annabelle
    Fayorisia
    Jaycee
    Leticia
    Pansie
         -->Male
    Whisper
    Tyke
    Marjoram
    Genu
    Abel

5. Itemizing Legends.  Write a story of any sort.  Chose at least four of the objects below.  You must use all four in some context in the story.  They must be used by the characters.  That means that can't just be seen, but used in some way or another.  Taking items apart is not allowed, but breaking an item is.
    fruit (you choose the type)
video game (you can choose the name if needed)
deer (you can choose the type of deer if need be)
arrow (the type that is shot from a bow)
dress (any version of a dress, but must be a one-piece PG-18 version)
glass eyeball (any color you want, any size)
butcher knife (the big chopping hatchet thingy)

6. Tangent Tales.  Write a story of any sort.  Look at one of my stories that I've listed below.  From that story, take the main character(s) and put them in another situation and write their story.  Leading characters are those that do not disappear from the tale as it progresses onwards.  You must select only one.  The leading characters are listed with the titles to their respective stories, but their personalities are not given, so you must find out for yourself what they are.
Characters from   __Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years__
Rayne (female), Tyke (male), Jacub (male)
    Characters from   __Eivie__
                      Eivie (female), Aldija (male)
    Characters from   __Black Forest Shoes__

Jordie (female), Ollie (male), Nick (male)

~3~3~3~ REQUIREMENTS ~3~3~3~
I would love for you to do these things below, but they aren't required, but hey, selfish publicizing and such things...  That means you won't get disqualified for not doing these things, but I figured, it's free publicizing of certain things, so why not?

1. Read and comment on one of my running series, __Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years__ __Eivie__
2. Read and comment on any one of my other writes.
3. Read and comment on any other contestant's writes.
4. Donate points to me.  This will just make this contest have more points (given to Silver and Bronze)
5. Apply to my group, "Masters and Mistresses of Writing"  (It's listed under the group type "Organization."
6. Request a pre-judging critique (only available during certain times of day/night, and not available during the last 24 hours of this contest)

~4~4~4~ RULES ~4~4~4~
These are a must.  If you don't follow these, you are going to get disqualified.  That's that.  I have these for a reason and if writers didn't give me reasons to have rules, then there wouldn't be any rules, but there are, so live with it.  Remember, you must do as each of these rules say except rule number one and number thirteen.  I put these in there just to see if any of you actually read this section.

1. Write "Peter, Peter, Pumpkin eater, had a wife and couldn't keep her.  He put her in a pumpkin shell and there he kept her very well." in your comment box.
2. All information as to the option you selected and what of the listings you chose must be in the comment box.
3. Grammaticks.  You must have a sense of spelling and grammar.  If you don't reading your work will be much to difficult to me and I shall skip it and go to something easier on my eyes.
4. Sticky Caps.  I haven't the slightest understanding to why someone uses this stuff and I don't like it.  It's hard enough to read have the things anyway, I don't want more trial than need be for it.
5. Comment Box.  You must use it in some fashion or another.
6. Prewrites are allowed because if you have actually done this in a previous work, you should be allowed to enter it.  Mind, though, it MUST follow all rules, options and option's listings.  If it doesn't fit this contest right down to the last line, it will not be accepted.
7. Negative and/or Non-Building Comments.  I don't like mean comments or whatever you want to call it.  If you leave a note via IM or commentary, then you're DQ'd.  I will not deal with people that are rude or what have you.  That means to myself or on other entries to this contest.  I don't deal well AT ALL with negativity.
8. Anything over PG-18 will be DQ'd unless it is really really really good.  That means if it were in a movie or some such and someone that is 18 wasn't allowed in alone, it's not acceptable unless it's really really really good.  Also, cursing must be kept at a minimal.
9. Adult Language and Context.  This is a big no-no.  Don't do it.
10. All stories are allowed as long as they fit the stuff above and are somewhat understandable.  I don't mean that I want something a first grader could read, but not something that seems to be either hyper-college or rocket scientist based either.
11. Proof of Reading.  Write whatever you want, but say that you have read all the rules.
12. Only stories.  No poetry or any other form is allowed.  This is a story contest, after all.
13. Look back up at the first paragraph.  The last sentence needs to go in your comment box.  I don't want you to cut-paste this rule, just the sentence mentioned.

~5~5~5~ FINAL COMMENTS ~5~5~5~
Remember now, you really need to check what that beginning paragraph said in each section.  They can tip you off to some of my more sneaky filterings.  *hint, hint*  If you don't listen to my directions, you will be DQ'd.  And I don't know very many people that like being DQ'd.

I will post any alterations under the following section should I change anything.  This is mostly for your own benefit so that you know I have altered the contests in some way.  While I do not actually have to do this, I feel it's somewhat nice to do this said thing so that you will know that the above will not be altered, but all alterations will be quite visible below.  Thanks for all your most wonderful time and good luck.

May you enjoy the challenge, and write masterpieces worth a thousand dollars, and may I enjoy every last droplet of this said gold.
Oh yes, and good luck, again.

~6~6~6~ LATER ADDITIONS ~6~6~6~
At this time, there are alterations now, please check back later to see if there are more.

Only stories are allowed.  I don't want poetry or anything besides stories.  This is why I posted it as a story contest, after all.
I will remove any that don't follow the rules without notifying them of their removal.

I almost entered something... but then realized that not only is my story not done, but it doesn't quite fit in with any of the rules. Anyways, I'm writing a fantasy story and I like how it's coming out so far... I'm just a bit behind

Okay, mine is a story within a poem, hope that doesn't disqualify it
I'm rather suprised that you haven't gotten more entries to this. Perhaps the rules themselves scared people away! Good luck with this

    Thanx

Much thanx for the Gold. I didn't think it was quite as good as I'd like, but I'm quite happy that you thought so. Again, it was most wonderful to create a write for your contest and I am certainly going to try and get into your next contests. Thanx!
