What Benefits Society More, Competition or Cooperation?

Any form/category is fine.

Please provide sharp arguments.

Personal experiences are highly preferred for arguments.  Expert quotes are a very good way to support your position, but don't bury me in them.

Anecdotes are cool.  Arguments of a spiritual. religious, secular or even a humorous perspective are acceptable.  Since I am a comedian, humor might win the day, but only if it presents a serious, hard hitting concept to drive home your ideas.  Any joke that doesn't get me killed, only makes me stronger.

Contests are a form of competition, but cooperation would dictate reading/commenting on your fellow writer's submissions.  I will award 75 points to the best comments...even if you do not enter the contest yourself.

2nd Place will be awarded no less than 150 points

3rd Place will be awarded no less than 100 points

4th Place will be awarded no less than 75 points

5th Place will be awarded no less than 50 points

6th Place will be awarded no less than 25 points

No more than 1000 words, please.

Thank you!

  • Final notes:
I appreciate all the contributions...I am being subjective in my assesment of scorings...but I'm not competing. Thanks again! I got a few laughs...which is what I wanted, in part, and got a few good arguments and experiences to contemplate upon. I'll give out the rest of the points later, as I'm needing to go sleep...really tired...tahnks again!

interesting though I've a quibble about the wording...

'benefits society' would not necessarily mean 'benefits humanity'. the one benefits society while the other benefits humanity more. do you truly mean benefits society then?

"'benefits society' would not necessarily mean 'benefits humanity'"~~this is true, I would say that competition definately benefits society more, but maybe not humanity.

This sounds intriguing: let me clarify...

    * Prose or free verse or poem OK.
    * Must be an argument (in the correct sense of that word)
    * Preferably amusing
    * Can it be sick, foul-mouthed, savage, unfair, cruel, erotic, obscene, savage or are any of those not to your taste?

And of course murder is the most severe form of criticism.
