Legends of Ancients

~%~%~%~ Introduction ~%~%~%~
The contest is structured specifically as follows to better help you and other readers and hopeful contestants find whatever it is about it that they wish to find.  Meaning, in short, that I've created it so that you can find things as easily as I can think of.  Be careful to read all of the rules and the option itself because there may be a disqualifying thing listed there if you do not chose to follow it.  I hate disqualification!

The order of this contest goes as follows:

1. Introduction ( ) 2. Options and Listings ( and ) 3. Requirements ( ) 4. Rules ( ) 5. Final Comments ( ) 6. Later Additions ( )

                                      - - -
~@~@~@~ Options ~@~@~@~
You must chose one.  If you chose more than one and somehow work them both out together, that's fine, but you MUST chose at least one of these.

    ~~~For Stories~~~
1. Name that Story.  This is for a Story ONLY.  Select a name below.  That name is the name of your leading character(s).  Create a story about this character.  It can be how they became named or their recent adventure, whatever you would like, but it must be a story.  You cannot change the spelling.  Last and any addition to the name is fine.  You can also create nicknames, but this is their first and foremost name.  The names are:
-->Female:                                 -->Male:
Ella                               Talon
Jaycee-Anne                   Jacub
2. Tales of Creatures.  This is for Story ONLY.  Select a kindred below.  That is the species of your leading character(s).  Create a story about them.  It can be of any time, universe, or whatever else, but your character must portray the generic physical, mental etc attributes that come from its kin.
-->Humanoid:                                   -->Non-Humanoid:
elf (non-dark)                             goblin (non-light)
giant (either)                               Wolfic (non-dark)
youwarkee or fallen angel (either)   roc (either)
3. Genre in Stories.  This is for Story ONLY.  Select a genre (basic sense of story) below.  That is the main genre of which you are writing about.  There can be more than one genre, but it must be at least one of the following.
Medieval Fantasy (knight in shining armor like)
Space Cadet Sci-Fi (Star Wars or Star Trek like)
Captive Romance (One-sided love that does/does not turn into real love)
Huck Finn & Tom Sawyer Adventure (fictional adventures in real life)
4. Plotted Story.  This is for Story ONLY.  Select a plot below.  This is the basics of your story.  It must be completely visible that this is the plot.  Tweaking it however you please otherwise is acceptable.  I've named the main character Joe merely to make it clearer, you don't have to use him as the actual character(s).
Joe falls down a hole.  It leads to a strange underground world.
Joe makes a wish in a wishing well only to get run over by a car.
Joe flirts with the spouse of his/her boss.
Joe is off to fight a mean dragon that only wants a friend.
Joe uncovers a strange stone that glows really really brightly.
Joe drinks something from a bottle his witch-mother gave him.
Joe's children run amuck.
    ~~~For Poems~~~
1. Colorful Poetry.  Chose a color from the list below and use it in your poem.  It must be mentioned in the poem itself, but not the title.

                                      - - -
~$~~$~~$~ Requirements ~$~~$~~$~
These are requirements--meaning you don't have to do them, but it would be greatly appreciated.  You will not be disqualified for doing or not doing the following.

1. Comment on one of my works.  Especially my stories.  Rayne, Child of a Thousand Years.  Eivie.  Black Forest Shoes.

2. Comment on another entry.  This can boost both your points and the morale of another writer, but I'm not going to make you.

3. Point giving.  If you do donate points, the prize will grow.  If you don't, it will not.

                                      - - -
~#~#~#~ Rules ~#~#~#~
These are non-breakable.  Meaning that if you don't follow these, you're DQ'd from this contest.  If you don't fill out all of these, you will not be judged.  That means no points for you.

1. Grammaticks.  A basic sense of where a period or a comma goes is a must.  If you complain that my works aren't as good as how I critique others, remember this: I don't grade my works in my own contests!

2. Sticky Caps.  I don't like them.  Capitalize only what ought to be. (Beginning of sentences, names, etc)

3. Comment Box.  You MUST use your comment box for some reason or another.

4. Prewrites are allowed because if you have actually done this in a previous work, you should be allowed to enter it.  Mind, though, it MUST follow all rules, options and option's listings.  If it doesn't fit this contest right down to the last line, it will not be accepted.

5. Negative and/or Non-Building Comments.  I don't like mean comments or whatever you want to call it.  If you leave a note via IM or commentary, then you're DQ'd.  I will not deal with people that are rude or what have you.  That means to myself or on other entries to this contest.  I don't deal well AT ALL with negativity.

6. If you have any trouble or wish for a pre-judging critique (these are very very helpful, by the way) please IM or leave a comment to dragondancer so that you will receive this.  (It is also possible that doing so will give you extra points, and possible sponsorship or two)

7. Anything over PG-18 will be DQ'd unless it is really really really good.  That means if it were in a movie or some such and someone that is 18 wasn't allowed in alone, it's not acceptable unless it's really really really good.  Also, cursing must be kept at a minimal.

8.All writes are allowed as long as they fit the stuff above and are somewhat understandable.  I don't mean that I want something a first grader could read, but not something that seems to be either hyper-college or rocket scientist based either

9. List the option, the option's listing and all other material I may need to know to properly judge your work.  If you don't and I can't find it, I'll just say you didn't do it and you'll be DQ'd.

10. Reread the first paragraph of this contest.  (The introduction)  You see that last sentence?  Put that in your comment box or at the very beginning of your write.  Make it bold or easy to see in such manner that I know you have read these rules.  I do not want you to copy-paste this rule.

                                      - - -
~~~ Final Comments ~~~
That's everything as of right now.  If I decide to add some other such thing in, it will appear in the Later Addition section that will be seen below this if ever that happens.  Remember, as that this is my contest, I can willfully change any aspect I so chose of it at any given point in time.  However, I try to be nice in such a manner and leave all future editings and additions below so as to make it easier on you, the hopeful contestant.  That is, of course, if you are still willing to enter.
Good luck to you all, enjoy the write, enjoy the read, enjoy the challenge.  But most of all, please do enter, for what is the fun of a contest if no one enters it?
~!~!~!~ Later Additions ~!~!~!~
Oky...I forgot this rule and minor glitch.
RULE
You may enter as many times as you would like as long as they follow the rules, options and listings you have chosen for it.
GLITCH
You must post all poetry or other reads as a story because this is a story formatted contest.  It will still be read and seen as a poem, but it can't be entered unless it is a story.  Sadly.  Just re-edit it into being posted as a story (in other words, post it wrong) and it can then be entered.
    This looks like a cool contest. Can we use as many of the names listed in option number one as we want? Within reason of course.
    Hm...
    You can use as many of whatever here as you want, but don't forget to list the option the number one pick and all that so as that I don't get too confused!
    I have a poem I'd like to enter but option shows this is only for stories. Why's it like this? Can this be changed? I'd really like to enter and I think my poem suits the 'colourful poem' category very well.
    Can I enter?
    Thanx
    I made it a story contest. That's why. There isn't a forum for stories and poem contest as a single contest so just switch your poem to a story. That way you can post it then. Plus it gives more points in the end. A minor, but still appreciated by me addition. Anyway, it was just for stories at first, but I thought it a little unfair so I added the poetry part in. In other words, if you really want to post poetry as an entry, do so, but just change it into a story!
