The rules of this one are pretty simple. And the name tells it all. I want a romance in nature. A moment in time, a nice day out on a picnic in the woods, a love started in nature... heck, even use fantasy creatures falling in love if you wish to make it interesting!
A Few Simple Rules:
1. No animals involved. No children involved. In the romance half of the piece.
2. No rape. No bondage. No violence.
3. No senseless sex. You can make your piece as erotic as you want, but it has to contain romance.
4. No foul language.
5. The piece must focus on a romance of some sort in nature. I don't want something about people falling in love while flower shopping. I want the couple out in nature, in the woods, in the ocean, in a field, whatever.
6. I want imagery. Paint me a picture of the surroundings and the romance. I want it to play like a movie in my head.
7. As I said, you can use fantasy creatures in your piece as well (ex: elves, gnomes, wizards, fairies, etc.). Actually, I sort of encourage it. You won't lose points for not using fantasy creatures, but I would enjoy it! BTW, it doesn't matter if the couple is heterosexual or homosexual. Whatever your muse comes out with.
8. You may enter no more than two pieces and it must be poetry. However, here's the catch. The poetry must be 25 lines or more long. It can be 950 lines if you want, but it must have at least 25.
9. In your comments box, write your favorite quote of all time. Just to show me you read the rules. If this isn't there, you are out.
10. Prewrites are allowed, but only one per person.
Have fun! The contest ends Sunday, Feb. 20, 2005. And it is for 400 points.
Contest is Over
- Contest was judged on February 21, 2005
- Rewards: Gold: 400
- Final notes: Well, you guys never cease to amaze me. This was yet another one that was incredibly difficult to judge, but somehow I managed. I want to apologize for not leaving comments on every single piece. It doesn't mean I liked your piece any less than another.
The winners are as follows:
Gold: Shangri-La by sewasham, focusing on an island the person in the poem was ship wrecked on and the love he found there
Silver: A Midnight Tryst by Mystic Fire, focusing on a night on the beach between a mermaid and a vampire
Bronze: Cape Flattery by pattyann4500, focusing on the romance between two people in their favorite spot in nature
This one was tough enough that I need to give a nod to honorable mentions, in no particular order:
A Night in the Forest by left over interest
Fae and the Merman by acara123
Laughter of Love by Torn Chakra
Love Blooms In Nature's Beauty by Rose Dark Thorn
However, if you have a moment, I would suggest reading all the entries, because there wasn't one poem in here that was anything but amazing. Good work, all!

This sounds like something I need to write. I've been surrounded by negativity lately, so it might do me some good to see what I can coax my muse into blessing me
