That is the topic of this contest.

- Final notes: Hmm...I guess this lifestyle is okay. I am fonder of it than when I started this contest, but I know what it's like be prosecuted for being "emo" or "gothic." Ugh...it's really annoying -- unless, of course, you like being classified. Anyway, I enjoyed reading all of your entries.

Sickemotions, first of all I would like to point out that even with all your "emo dissage" ironically you have emotions in your name. Secondly, I fail to see much of a difference when it comes to "overplayed" emo and the overplayed crappy guitar and screaming that is punk rock. I'm generalizing- punk rock comes in all shapes and sizes- but for the most part it sucks. And as for 'Juggalos,' the insane clown posse might be the most retarted bunch of face-painting losers ever. Not to defend emo or anything - I hate it just as much as you do- but the "music" you listen to is far less desirable and much more annoying than the quiet emo. Okay, I'll put it this way: emo resembles music, while modern punk rock resembles a bunch of white guys rapping/screaming to the sounds of large trucks driving by.

Well, to each his/her own, Ana, but think about it, isn't any song Emo if it's dealing with emotions? By all means, if a "whiney" band means they are Emo, it doesn't necessarily mean they suck. Look at Staind, that's some whiney ass music, but no one is calling it emo, and it sucks! lol. I don't believe in a "genre" of Emo, it's just another genre/stereotype/label that music, bands, people and things end up being classified under. Writing a love song, or talking about your feelings is not fucking Emo and I don't give a shit what anybody says about that. Not too long ago, people were labeling certain things "goth" because of the content, and now it's literally the same shit that's being tossed into some "emo" pile. I do understand where you are coming from, though, you are just sick of whiny music, I suppose, and I am with you all the way.

So far, I guess I've learned that emo isn't just being emotional...I probably gathered that prior to this contest. If that were the case, I would be as "emo" as the next person seing as I'm a teenage girl and I cry because of the stupidest shit. Damn hormones. LOL
