january 24, 2006:
the judging will not be in accordance with the original rules. this point system was well devised when the contest was first posted. then there were problems with allpoetry during this time frame and i had suffured another death in the family. then time would pass as another death occurred. then my workload increased, and two more deaths to finish out the year. i have never in my life had to deal with losing seven people in a period of less than two years. itz been a hard thing to do. i'm still grieving. i had talked to a friend last night that i have not got to talk to in months. she helped me so much. she's like my little miracle. it was through her that i was able to get this contest done and the fact that i was given the day off. she knows who she is...and i thank her from the bottom of my heart.
now all poems have comments and an assigned bingo ball number. after each ball was assigned, it was placed in the big cage. i do not know which number was assigned to which poem. after i post this, i will go back and let the balls come out in order. then i will record them and post them immediately. now mind you, once i post them, i will have to go back into the poems to place them in the order of the balls. the order will predict the winners. so if you're reading those posted numbers and already know it matches your number, then you know what's going to happen. now i can't predict how the balls will come out. since everyone was eligible to have up to five poems in the contest, it wouldn't be fair if by the stroke of luck to have one person as all three winners. the deal will be that if something like this should happen, then the next availble author of a poem that matches a ball will win the next prize. now this might not be the most traditional way to award the prizes. i'm almost sure that my favorite poems in the contest will not likely be the ones picked by a random drawing. i do think itz the most impartial way to judge this contest. and i have come to determining the winner this way for the fact that i would like other forms over some. this is a contest for the people that have me on their favorites. so i wanted to take any bias that may be suggested and nip it in the bud. i think all of you will agree that my system of a random drawing would give everyone a chance even though the winning poem might not be as good as twenty other poems in the contest. i think i will reserve the right to use this system in the future with other contests only where i don't require certain rules. basically limiting it to said contests as such as the type that was held in this case. i willl be back with the order of the bingo balls. it still may take some time to find out the order of the poems, so be a bit more patient, luvya, DARK.
ps: i will post this and the order as an update and a comment to the contest so all will be guaranteed to see it.
january 16, 2006 update:
this contest has been way over due for judging. one day it will come believe it or not. i look forward to that day as i know many of you do to. there are no excuses that can be given to all of you for the reason this has not been done. i am grateful that this was a contest in which only was allowed for the favorites list. i had some vacation time during the holidays, but chose to travel to visit with family. i did this because you never know when your love ones we no longer be here. friends of mine just lost their daughter (ashley, age seven) a few weeks ago. i know how tough it was for them as they are expecting their next child within days now. the seven deaths in the past two years has dealt a blow to my own emotions. i never had so many people die in such a small amount of time. i know with time itz suppose to get better, but i'm here to tell you that itz pretty tough to do. if you can just be a little more patient with me, i will eventually get the contest judged. it actually might be in february when this happens. i want to thank you for being a fan and a friend, luvya, DARK.
august 22, 2005;
i know itz been such a very long time for this contest to be judged. i should have it judged no later than mid-september (if not before). there was a block of time back in may when i was going to judge it. i knew there were some problems with allpoetry and i was going to change the system i had devised to judge the contest in the first place. i took out a deck of cards and was assigning everyone a card. i ran out of cards for i didn't realize there were seventy plus entries. i went and bought a deluxe bingo game that would cover all the entries. i will assign a ball at random to each poem and put it in the big globe shaker. then randomly draw the balls from it. that's how the winners will be determined. i will draw until there are three individuals that can win the trophies, inotherwords i will not let a single person win more than one trophy since itz possible with this method.
this would have been done already, but my grandmother died at the end of may. two days before her death, a friend for over twenty years had called me letting me know she had only three months to live. i was strucked in awe. she and i couldn't believe it. she went in for a checkup and they had found cancer. it was too far gone. she died sooner than the doctors predicted (it was a short three months). i got the news the day before i had plans to see her. of course it took alot out of me. for the first time in awhile, i had to write. i had to let emotions take itz course. i had not written in awhile, not for writer's block, but just too busy to take to write. i will post it once i get the time to post. it might be posted close to the time i can judge the contest. tpa might get the time to explain the absence more in detail at a later date.
please try to be just a bit more patient as this contest will come to a close. i remember when i use to do almost three contests a month. now itz taken almost eight months to complete this one. time does work in mysterious ways, especially when more is needed in a twenty-four hour day. thank each and everyone of you that have kept your entries in this contest, luvya, DARK
may 16, 2005; i know this contest has been long over due for completion! as soon as i can bracket an alottment of time to read every entry and comment i will do so. until then i will have to find a minute in a tight schedule to keep the contest closing updated. i apologize to each of you that have been waiting for so long for this contest to be completed. please be patient a little bit longer if you can, luvya, DARK
note: i will read and comment as soon as i can. sorry for such a long delay! my plans were to end this contest quite some time back. due to circumstances beyond my control that has been impossible to do. i will try to have the contest judged within the next two weeks tops. i will have to periodically change the closing date of the contest like i have in the past, howevere i won't reopen it. i will only change the date for commenting purposes so i can judge it. thank you for your patience. i'm sorry if you had a poem in here that you wanted somewhere else. it will take a good portion of time to read and comment and at the time that's the one thing that's not abundant for me. i will try hard to get this contest judged as soon as i can.
welcome to another DARK contest! my 30th on this site!
this contest is another exclusive member contest! this contest is only for those who have me on their favorites list. that doesn't mean who i have on my favorites list and making it clear so there is no confusion. now itz possible that you may be on both. however, the list that counts for this contes is the one where i am on your favorites and not mine. if you have added me after this contest was posted, it won't do you any good until i have another one like this in the future. i have copied the list prior to the contest to ensure i have an accurate set of names. there are approximately 68 people on the list. i will not post this list for itz not a requirement for anyone of them to enter. they know if i am on their list and if they choose to enter. this contest is exclusively for them to show my appreciation for being a loyal reader. not all of them ever comment, but i don't always need a comment. just knowing they want to read it is fine to me. not everything i write will be liked by all. itz a great thing we have here; freedom of expression and choices. this is not a ploy to add me to your favorites. as a matter of fact adding me now does not entitle you to enter the contest. this contest is just a simple contest for those who have demonstrated loyalty. i don't always get to read their poetry and comment. now they have that chance if they want it. for those who are eligible, you may select up to four prewrites and write one fresh poem to enter in this contest. you select the poems you would like for me to comment on and that's what will happen. just my way to say thank you for having me as a favorite of yours. now this is a fair warning: if you enter and not on my list, i will make a comment by pasting this whole contest content (just so you can read it on your own). then i will remove you after posting the comment. so if you don't want that to happen, then adhere to the rules set forth. if you have any questions concerning this contest, please make them as a comment to this contest and i will answer in a reply. this should be done in case others have the same question. i will comment on all entries soon and will close the contest at that time. time has been very limited lately. guess itz time for some rules.1. pre-writes are allowed in this contest and is the 2d time ever i have allowed it. you may enter up to four (4) prewrites and post one (1) new write with a max of five (5) poems per poet in the contest. you must be a poet that had me listed on your favorites prior to the posting of the contest.2. any style/any form (length is not a problem...do what you want to do and how you want to do it...as long as you comply with the other rules too).3. you must meet the requirement as listed in the body of the contest(basically, i must be on your favorites list).4. closing date will be march 1-7(somewhere in this time frame), 2005. this date has been extended to march 22, 2005 - april 30, 2005. somewhere in this time frame i will comment and close contest. just have been to busy lately to get online to do anything. please be patient and i will try to close contest as quickly as i can as soon as i have the time to comment on entries. 5. i will comment on every entry (it will be every sunday til i close the contest(unless i can get on earlier)).as itz always my custom to wish everyone luck here as i will not do it in the comments to your writes!i will be commenting on all poems next weekend(march 6). i was left a message about the system crashing and comments were lost. i will take this factor into consideration when judging. thank you for your patience. i do have a document where i have been keeping tabulation for everything and will go through every single poem again to make sure i have everything correct.

ok, it took awhile to find all top five entries and itz amazing that no author was repeated. it took along time before i found an entry with a matching ball. i was very surprised how the random results did pick some very good entries. my top choices didn't get randomly selected, but that's the reason why i chose this method for it was a contest that didn't require certain rules to be met as i normally place in my contests. the 4th place will receive 200 points and 5th place will receive 100 points. i will go and applaud all other entries that didn't make the top five.

-
I agree with Sam and it has been a pleasure to be part of your contests. You will probably be reading until your eyes are cross eyed though. Did you retire without telling anyone? lol!
I guess we better make sure the poetry we enter is worth the read then
Keep you on your toes! Good-Luck and happy reading!
-
Got my prewrites in...now to work on an original for this contest...

I won't be entering your contest thought you are on my list, as you seem to be a loved person and will have enough to read as is lol. I just wanted to tell you this is a great idea for a contest. Good luck reading all those lol. And Good Luck to all who enter

Always a delight to see you active on the site.
Looks like another awesome contest. you have been on
my favs list since I first stumbled across you last summer
and you dedicated a certain poem to me.
best, always ~ crisstiena
-
kelly sue, i will have another one sometime this year. i think this is a worthwhile contest where i can give back to those that have always supported me. since i don't have alot of time, itz rare that i can get to their poems. with all the contests i do have and the restrictive requirements i have, many do not like to attempt those type of contests. thank you for your interest and please join the next one, DARK.
-
kati, yes you are indeed eligible so start looking for poems to put in this contest, DARK
-
to all who have made comments, thank you for them and i'm glad you like this contest, luvya, DARK.
-
kelly sue, i just checked the list again for i had someone changed their name in the contest and had to match it up. you are on the list so that means you can enter. the list i have copied and saved as a document has you on it. i just took it as your word that you didn't have me on it. like i said, you're on the copied list i have saved so that entitles you to enter if you choose to do so, DARK.
-
if some of your poems have not been read and commented on by me, don't worry they will be in time. i had to make sure i commented on one entry per person due to the comment provides information to everyone how the contest will be judged. if you read carefully, every single person has a shot for the trophies regardless the type of poetry submitted. if you pay close attention to what was said, then you will be a step ahead of the game, luvya, DARK.
ps: see you next weekend to comment on more unless i get a chance before then. -
Dear DARK, I realized after I sent you an Im that I have to post any problems on here, you may or may not be aware that we had a crash on AP where we all lost up to six days of commenting, unfortunately some of us had been commenting the day it crash therefor losing all our comments, I know itz one of the requirements, so I will try to find them in system messengers, if not I will comment again on the week end, even any comments you made after the 6th may be gone.
Just wanted you to know that I had been commenting as has samplette ans meesaP Love~Joan

You know how I love your contests. It seems that you have left this one open much longer than intended, and I am happy for it! I haven't been able to get online in well over a month, but I'm finally kind of back, and I miss you!! So good to see you online, I'll have to see what I can come up with. The prewrites will be easy enough to find, but I must figure out something new for you as well, so no closing it now allowed! No worries, I'll have something up in the middle of the night tonight I bet. Luv ya always hun!!

Oh my DARK I haven't seen you on here in a while *doubts she is remembered* but I thought I'd say hi and good luck with your contest!! -much love

Don't worry about judging, just take care of yourself. I'm sure all that know and love you will wait patiently. I am now riding with my husband in his semi truck. I understand how time comsuming driving can be. I am sorry that I didn't get a fresh poem for your contest as I had planned to do but time did not allow me to. it looks like this might be judged during the christmas break. that is the next time i will have a break with a few days off. i'm sorry to you good people that have been waiting so long. i'm just glad that you're fans and have much patience. i knew there was a day i was having 2.5 contests a month. time is being consumed with so many more things today with most of it being work. if i can get this done earlier i shall. thanks for understanding, luvya, DARK

looks like i missed getting this contest judged again. i'm just glad all of you are extremely patient and that the contest was specifically for you. soon, very soon now...i predict i will get this contest judged. thought i was going to do it this past week, but it never happened. so by the end of this month it may, luvya, DARK.

i want everyone to know i have started judging again. if i had made a comment on your poem before implementing the numbered ball system, i will be making a comment again and assigning a number by randomly drawing out of a bag. then that number is placed in a basket. for each entry, there will be a ball placed in the basket. i will try to have this contest judged hopefully within the next day. i have started the process and maybe i can see it through, luvya, DARK

the judging will not be in accordance with the original rules. this point system was well devised when the contest was first posted. then there were problems with allpoetry during this time frame and i had suffured another death in the family. then time would pass as another death occurred. then my workload increased, and two more deaths to finish out the year. i have never in my life had to deal with losing seven people in a period of less than two years. itz been a hard thing to do. i'm still grieving. i had talked to a friend last night that i have not got to talk to in months. she helped me so much. she's like my little miracle. it was through her that i was able to get this contest done and the fact that i was given the day off. she knows who she is...and i thank her from the bottom of my heart.
now all poems have comments and an assigned bingo ball number. after each ball was assigned, it was placed in the big cage. i do not know which number was assigned to which poem. after i post this, i will go back and let the balls come out in order. then i will record them and post them immediately. now mind you, once i post them, i will have to go back into the poems to place them in the order of the balls. the order will predict the winners. so if you're reading those posted numbers and already know it matches your number, then you know what's going to happen. now i can't predict how the balls will come out. since everyone was eligible to have up to five poems in the contest, it wouldn't be fair if by the stroke of luck to have one person as all three winners. the deal will be that if something like this should happen, then the next availble author of a poem that matches a ball will win the next prize. now this might not be the most traditional way to award the prizes. i'm almost sure that my favorite poems in the contest will not likely be the ones picked by a random drawing. i do think itz the most impartial way to judge this contest. and i have come to determining the winner this way for the fact that i would like other forms over some. this is a contest for the people that have me on their favorites. so i wanted to take any bias that may be suggested and nip it in the bud. i think all of you will agree that my system of a random drawing would give everyone a chance even though the winning poem might not be as good as twenty other poems in the contest. i think i will reserve the right to use this system in the future with other contests only where i don't require certain rules. basically limiting it to said contests as such as the type that was held in this case. i willl be back with the order of the bingo balls. it still may take some time to find out the order of the poems, so be a bit more patient, luvya, DARK.
ps: i will post this and the order as an update and a comment to the contest so all will be guaranteed to see it.

joan, you're more than welcome, but it was randomly selected. truth be known, you're waterfalls was in my top five. what was completely amazing to me was that two of the five winners contained my name so of course i had to highlight it. i have sent your 200 points. and your other entries will receive applauses if not have done so already. thank you so much for your patience in this contest. i do like the bingo method, but the next time i think i will add a twist. thinking about when the numbers are assigned, that i will give a chance to the author to claim the prize just like in bingo. who does it first has the better opportunity to win. just a thought. not to mention it took more time than i thought it would take to go back through all of the entries to find that number i assigned. congrats on 4th place, luvya, DARK.

sam, you had incredible entries and i was glad to see you were randomly chosen. it was wild to see that yours was one with my name in the title. i'm not sure what the odds are of two being in the top five, but i'm sure it was high. thank you for your entries, luvya, DARK.
