Hi, my name is Connie, (really Constance), but I like Connie better, it fits me. I write to help shed a light on many things, especially childhood abuse of any kind. I also write, to ask questions that many people want to know the answers to, but can't or won't ask. I'm sort of a straight in your face writer. I really never thought I'd be writing anything, especially poetry. As a kid, I hated poetry, it was too far out there, way too complex. However I found out that isn't the case. I don't have to write in any particular way to be a poet, and it doesn't have to be fancy words. So these are my words, my opinions, and my attempt to speak for those who will not, or can not. I am 45, and I am a Survivor of childhood sexual, mental, and physical abuse. My father molested, raped, and attempted to destroy my soul, from the age of 7-14yrs. I have witnessed a shooting, a co-worker shot another co-worker 5 times. I have Depression, Anxiety, and Post traumatic stress disorder. I'm also a married woman of 23 yrs, with 3 beautiful girls, one 22, one 19, and one 14. I'm am a Grandmother as well. I'm not sure I'm ready, but it is anyway. My writing helps me, as well as showing others that they can be. If I make the difference in just one persons life, that will make my struggles, and life worth it. I will not be silenced, it's not easy, but I will go on. My first poem submitted to this site, says it all. If I can, anyone can, SO LET'S!!
