It’s here folks! Follow the link to the December issue of AllWrite!
allwrite.jackhertz.com/
This month’s theme is Celebration - a joyful occasion for special festivities to mark some happy event. What better to write about in December than celebrations? We are delighted to share with you some of the many celebrations from all around the globe - but before we explore the contents of this month’s ezine, there are two particular members who have been instrumental in getting this spectacular issue on the front page of Allpoetry.
Lisa Bennett has been named Artistic Director for AllWrite Magazine. Lisa comes to us with a porfolio filled to the brim with artistic talent. She is a prolific poet, an artist, and an accomplished web designer, and has gathered her own team of talented volunteers to build a web-based ezine that any site would be proud to publish. With the addition of Jack MacIntyre to help with the coding for the site, the design team has, through Lisa's vision and innovative design, and Jack's behind the scenes coding expertise, produced a professional-looking magazine that is already getting rave reviews.
On behalf of the Allwrite staff, I wish to extend a very heartfelt “Thank You”. I hope that each one of you that reads the magazine will take a few seconds of your time to send your own “Kudos”, “High Five”, “Thumbs Up”, or just a simple “Thank You” to Lisa and Jack especially. Their dedication and faithfulness to remain on task and to see this project through from start to finish was no small feat, and was met with many challenges along the way. I don’t think I’m being too far off the mark to say that these two special poets have made us all look very good, and we truly appreciate their efforts.
Another special mention needs to be made about one of our graphic artists, Bob Dodson. He stepped up to the plate this month when some of our other artists were unable to fulfill their commitments. He did it with no complaint and gave us some beautiful artwork. Thank you Bob, you are a wonderful addition to our team.
~
I’m not even sure where to begin in describing what lies in store for you as you make your way through the pages of this month’s ezine. Along with the stunning new graphics brought to you by Lisa Bennett (l a bennett), Suzi Snyder (mystysaint), Bob Dodson, Jen Martin (bigmammajen) and Lea Williams (-Ophelia-); we have a few new features to introduce as well:
Read “The Buzz” for all the latest happenings in the hive. This portion of the magazine is intended to highlight groups, contests, special events, and anything else of note that happens on the site during the month. This column will be expanding to bring you more and more interesting scoops when possible. If you have a special group that you think is worthy of highlighting, let us know. We are open to all your ideas.
For those who take the time and make the effort to leave feedback or make suggestions, you may very well see your comment posted in the following month’s issue under the “Mailbag” section.
We are also proud to introduce our first installment of “Ask M”. She has proven to be up to the task, and has already provided insightful answers to questions submitted by site members. Bring your most puzzling and perplexing questions to her desk; she’s waiting to hear from you.
Check out “The Kitchen” for some mouth-watering recipes from all over the world. You might want to try some Snake Soup, or some of Marianne Gatlin’s ‘vegipes’, or even a Kangaroo Kebob! We would love to have recipes from every one of you, so send us your favorites and let us help you share them.
Share some laughs and gain a little insight as you read Unbridled 1’s interview with Desiree Darkk. These two are always quite a pair, and they never cease to amaze us with their humor and wit. Then walk through the mind of J Rhys Davies as he shares in an interview what has shaped and molded him into the man he is today, and what his plans are for the future.
Finally, bring out the party hats, grab a cup of cheer and let the celebrations begin as fellow poets from all around the globe join in and bring their own special celebrations to us. Read about Kwanzaa, Ramadan, or the Aboriginal Corroboree, their celebration of life. Share in the celebrations of Australia, written by several of our Aussie poets that got together to collaborate for this special year-end issue.
Perhaps you would like to read about NurseChilly’s love of Reiki, or learn about the Carnivals that are so popular in Quebec and Brazil, as well as the celebrations in the Far East and India. Learn about the summer and winter solstice, and Scotland’s Hogmanay. Take a trip with us, to many different places and read about their celebrations and what they mean to our poets.
The poetry and stories featured this month are worth reading, and the reviews by ed peterson and runawaytrain are done in the true spirit of their love of poetry. Our own Marianne Gatlin (Gatlianne) has graced us again with yet another installment in her ‘Becoming’ series, as well as an insightful article into Pagan celebrations. Bruce Newman (rambler) gave us yet another wonderful philosophical piece – he never runs out of them, it seems, and they are insightful and interesting to read.
The list goes on and on – this is our largest issue ever – with poets stepping up and writing for the magazine, graphics artists creating beautiful work that helps our magazine really shine, and a staff that has worked so hard to produce a quality magazine for all their fellow poet’s enjoyment. The amount of time and energy that went into this issue far exceeds anything we have ever done, but when it was finished, we all were very proud of what we saw.
If you look at the credits, you will see many artists listed there. Some have joined the staff as members of the regular team, providing articles and giving of themselves for every issue. Others are on what we call the ‘monthly’ team, and they provide the same types of things, but only when the need arises or when they are asked. So far, nobody has failed to deliver. Our writing staff has expanded, our graphics team is growing, and we hope that our reader base expands accordingly. After all, that’s what its all about, right?
And last, but not least, we have finally launched our ‘AllWrite – in the dark’ section of the magazine. Headed up by Pamela Walston (pamela), her team is growing, and they have had one contest and produced a very informative article about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) that appears in this issue. Lea Williams and sw33tstuff have joined the staff to work ‘in the dark’, and next month, the staff will be expanded again, and you will see much more being developed in this part of the magazine!
As always, please take time to let us know what you think as well as pass along any of your suggestions. We would like to hear what you really think, and what you would most like to see in future issues. We hope we have integrated some of your wishes in this issue, and will try to keep improving our magazine. We appreciate all of you, and we will never forget that we are all family here.
We hope you enjoy this 8th edition of AllWrite. It was made with lots of love.
We are delighted to share with you some of the many celebrations from all around the globe

I went reading this through the first time, but my computer froze up and I had to restart it all over again.
I was going to say that I think this is turning and shaping up to be a terrific online magazine. I find it quite exciting all the hard work that is put into this magazine. I had a few questions, though. Do the people who work on this magazine do it just for volunteer, or do they get paid for doing what they do? And also, I happen to see a lot of the same old same old people in this magazine, not only the ones who are contributing but the ones who get interviewed, show up with stories, and so on... I'd like to see a new column in this magazine where there can be a NEW poet interviewed or shared of their work every time I visit the magazine. Honestly, there are thousands of poets on this site, why do I see the same ones I always see? (the ones who have high rank around the site)???

Sorry must have missed the past few columns.. or maybe I took a look at them and don't remember.. oh well, it's still a good idea
Becca -
Actually Becca, I have written a column for the past three months in a row in hopes of making people more aware of what it actually in the ezine to look forward to each month and to increase the reader base. So many people look past the front page when they log on and rarely take the time to notice what's new. Let's hope they continue to discover the delights that await them each month.

It looks fabulous, a worthy issue and beautifully laid out
a real pleasure to read and I even liked reading my own piece.. lololololol

This sounds like a wonderful issue that I am more than intrigued to go check out now. Before I do I would like to thank all of those that have put so much hard work and effort to provide extras for us here at AP. That is what makes this such a wonderful place to be. Everyone here seems to love pitching in to help out and it is truly like we are a community. Here is a thought. I wonder if there has ever been a real internet community before as close net as this one? You know kind of like a little town in cyber space. Hmmm... Gives me an idea for something to write about! lol!

WONDERFUL
This is a wonderful idea to bring everyone together. Too often on here we are all devided into our own little circle of frinds and never get to truly know many others. I will definitly read your magazine. What a wonderful way to learn of the worlds hpliday celebrations. Take care, Sandy

How can one Thank the Staff for all their hard work? Read it! Comment on it! Leave your words and thoughts! I think they did a great job myself. They pointed out places I haven't even found yet, But I sure am going to follow up on. Especially if it makes my writing a little less verbose and understandable!
