Picture it 19—no really, picture it, walking into a huge room filled with chairs and a big blackboard awaiting for someone like me to come along and learn how to be what they are destined to be. It’s the first day of college, something everyone who even steps on campus to see one off will remember. In life, everyone is destined to be something, somebody. As they excel as a person they start to realize what they want to be, and then work at it. I’ve excelled as a person and have come to the realization that I want to be a writer. My dream requires the three E’s—Effort, Experience, and Education. The three E’s will help to get along to making my dream a reality.
Effort and Experience go together like two peas in a pod, one has to have the other or it’s just not right. Everyone has to have effort to get the experience. I knew exactly what I had to do to get my experience. I had to write; actually I had to have the effort to write. My dream is to become a writer, and if I write while having others critique my work, I’m bound to have improvement. In the end I have experience and something to show for it.
Education is a part of the everyday life road we’re walking on, every once and awhile a new turn option will open up until the very end of high school when one has to stop and think about the education needed and which path gives that. I have to think about the courses I needed to take, which colleges have the best learning experience in the classroom, and definitely think about which college is affordable. When it comes to my education, I need, want, and will have the best. I’m not going to just thinking about it, I’m going to do it. The world is around us is a harsh one, everyone has to go at it, either defeating it or it defeating them. I want to be able to take my experience and education and not just walk towards this harsh world, but run right at it. I’ve been lucky enough to have been open to the experience needed for writing, lucky enough for great schooling, and I won’t let that luck run out.
A road untraveled shouldn’t be ignored but should be taken on with the best of out ability. The best of my ability will be attained by going to and graduating from college. Through my writing, I can help myself and others. Everyday after I graduate I will remember the three E’s that helped me get through school—Effort, Experience, and Education. As Robert Frost put it, “Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you’ll find one at the end of your arm. As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands. One for helping yourself, the other for helping others.” I will always remember this and look down at my hand for writing and see it as both my hands. My writing hand helps me get through my pain, b letting flow from my hand to the tip of my pen meeting with the paper, almost instantly making me feel better; it helps others by reading my work and either realizing that we all breath the same air, or we all know what it’s like, Even if it's from imagination.
