This week, Judas Denied sent me a list of OldPoetry authors with some links to poems she thought might be of interest. I chose two very interesting female poets to spotlight this week: Anne Sexton and Carol Ann Duffy. Please follow the links, check out these poems and their others. You might be surprised and find yourself a new Old Poet to love! (and as always, if you have any suggestions on poets or poems you would like to see spotlighted here in this column, please IM Unbridled1...I will see what I can do) Also, remember that I always have surprise bonuses within the column that are separate from the actual HUNT (see below for HUNT). So, go check out the links and read some OLDPOETRY! oldpoetry.com/

On to the HUNT! This week we are going to play the "Who Am I?" game for 200 points. The guidelines are simple:
1. Go to OldPoetry
2. Log in if you are not already
3. Identify each poet I have listed below
4. Pick AT LEAST one poem by each author and leave a well thought out critique/comment on the poem. If your comment is made up mostly of copying and pasting the authors words in the comment box, it will be disqualified. These comments/critiques should examine the poem and not just say whether or not you liked the piece. Say "why" you liked it.
5. Come back here to the column
6. As a comment to this column, post the name of each author and the link to each poem you commented on, i.e.,
1. Unbridled1 - allpoetry.com/Column/503234
I will not search for poems you have critiqued. If you do not leave the link as shown above, It will not be checked
This HUNT is for 200 points to the person who finds all the OldPoets and follows the above guidelines first. Remember, the critiques/comments need to be your best quality. It will be counted when reviewing the entrants. Good Luck!
Here are your old poets:
Who Am I?
1. I was born in 1720 and died in 1793 in Selborne, Hampshire, England.
I focused on writing about natural history. I was ordained as a priest
after graduating from Oriel College, Oxford -- though I never actually
practiced in Selborne.
2. I was born in Huddersfield in 1963. At one point, I worked in Manchester
as a probation officer. My first book Zoom! (Bloodaxe) was a Poetry Society
Book Choice and was shortlisted for the Whitebread Prize. I have written
poetry extensively for radio and television.
3. I was born in Missouri, USA, in 1943. I am the author of 13 collections of poetry.
I won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1992. I have taught poetry at several universities and currently work at the University of Massachusetts.
4. I was born in 1904 and died in 1987. I was born in Berlin, Germany and was the youngest child of Salomon Kronfeld and Laura Liebmann. My family was Jewish.
In 1928, I converted to Catholicism and took the baptismal name of Maria Magdalena. Due to Nazi threat, I left my homeland and finally settled in New Zealand. I made a significant to the theatre in my adopted country as a director and producer.
5. I was born in 1890 and died in 1960. I was a Russian novelist and poet from Moscow. I was born into an upper class family and many famous artists and poets frequented my home. I studied music as the Moscow Conservatory, but at the age of 20 I went to Germany to study philosophy in the Marburg University. I was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1958 for DOKTOR ZHIVAGO.
6. I was born in 1475 and died in 1564 in Caprese but always considered myself a "son of Florence" (Italy). I am a painter, poet, architect and sculptor. I wrote over 300 poems in my lifetime and am considered by critics to be the "foremost madrigalist of the Italian Cinquecento" and "the greatest Italian lyrical poet of the sixteenth century.
7. I was born in Wurzburg, Germany in 1924. I emigrated with my family to Palestine and became a naturalized Israeli citizen in 1936. I published 11 volumes of poetry in Hebrew, two novels and a book of short stories. My work has been translated into thirty-seven languages. In 1982, I received the Israel Prize for Poetry and I became a foreign honorary member of the American Academy of the Arts and Letters in 1986. I lived in Jerusalem until my death in 2000.
Have fun and Good Luck!
