[ Hypocrisy Hype ] Part One

Do you know any of these people~
Eating jelly belly’s from the jar
Pondering over just how far
People will go to make their point
Or how long they sing
The song that has no ring

The person who professes friendship and love
While claiming to encourage and see others succeed
But only wanting to hear from Me, Myself and I
And forgetting about the We

The father crossing the busy street
Grumbling about how people are always in a rush
Dragging his young toddler in tow
Yelling like a drill sergeant
Stop walking so slow

The fast talking individuals
Who have never timed themselves
Get irritated and angry
When someone else talks fast as well

Then the woman complaining
Those men in general only want ONE thing
Yet she holds her list of physical requirements
But tells everyone that looks are not everything

The religious man who preaches from the Bible
Abusing his wife over dirty dishes
Degrading his children for having a dream
Then rendezvous at night with his mistress

The woman who was raised in poverty
Vowed to never take what she had for granted
Suddenly becomes wealthy
frowns upon all those who supported her back then

The man holding the picket sign
In support of better working conditions
Approached by management to be a scab
He drops the sign and slithers on in

Then the mother who criticizes others
For yelling and cursing in front of “their” kids
She swears with more vowels in her vocabulary
And labels her own children brats and pigs

There are hypocrites in every town
In the workplace and even in our own families
They are everywhere we go and to be immune
One would need to migrate to the moon
But
There are those who speak The Golden Rules
And apply them to society
In turn forgetting about their own
Attitudes and actions that are flighty
This is just what I have viewed in the last couple of days~ I would add pictures of them but ran out of film )
I am NOT perfect or claim to be but this is what I have observed that irritated me

This reminded me of a Shaman saying that I read recently. It says " Be patient, be kind, be helpful. Try to always do the right thing as if you never knew the wrong it doing so.

I sometimes fall in one of those case there. I keep telling to the kids that they may not curse, but if I hit my foot on a chair I let some one or other less nice word escape out of my mouth. As excuse I say 'do what I tell you, don't do what I do' I know it is wrong, I should give the example, but...
some people are indeed extremely hypocrite, and that can really be annoying.
    Very good write D!

Thanks for your kind response to me Desire. It was much nicer than mine to you :0 You would be surprised though, when you show your flaws, there is no need for others to focus on them. It's no fun to pick on someone who is picking on themselves. Again, I so much appreciate you not answering me in kind. It shows great character! Jennifer

Thanks for the comment and that is what I am talking about but I don't focus on me, myself and I...it is about what I have observed and never said I was not at fault for whatever...The ones I observed in this write I have not committed~ Everyone has room for improvement...everyone...but a hypocrite is different than improvement on a flaw~ Wanting to be a better reader is different than saying you should not be smoking that cigarette because it causes cancer as the person speaking lights up...But your points are well noted...I make it a point not to preach but speak what I feel~ If I can't take it then I don't dish it out I have room for improvement but don't like telling the world my flaws for people tend to focus on them...Amazing..
Thanks a bunch for your comments as always..Appreciate you~
    big hugs and much love~Desire

You know as I read this poem, the farther along I got I was thinking this is sounding really pretentious. The poem would have been much more effective if you were able to point out some areas of hypocrisy in yourself. If the truth is told we are all hypocrites in one way or another. All of us hide our bad selves from others to some extent. The poem sounded very preachy to me because you were holding yourself up to be the paragon of virtue.

I freely admit to being hypocritical but am always trying not to be

Wow...this was up and down real fast. Hypocrites in lots of light...but it would be hypocritical to judge them by their actions, if you do not represent that. I have to admit I'm not always the same person...it's hard in some places...though it shouldn't be. Great work...makes a point to point out mistakes and try to repair them.
    Peace

This is great and sooo true. In creative writing a few days ago one of our assignments was to write a short story about something that makes us mad, and I chose hypocrits, but you are write, they are everywhere. Great job. Keep it up.

I know what youre saying here. It's funny how people can preach one thing and then practice another, both at the same time. I've found that people also make excuses for me as well, for instance if I say so and so did something that I think is wrong but I have done the same thing so I have no room to talk, my friends will say something like 'yeah but you have a good reason for doing it-she doesn't'. I hope that makes sense, this is my third day without a cigarette and after smoking almost two packs a day, I'm a little confused. Anyhow, great poem, I agree with you.
