What and who is OldPoetry?

OldPoetry is the sister site of AllPoetry,  and houses a very extensive collection of the worlds finest poets through-out time from Lascelles Abercrombie to Zuhair, Sappho to Thomas Hardy. The aim for the site is to become a comprehensive site for those who are researching their studies, those who love to read the immortal words of the greatest writers ever known or even for those looking to be inspired. We invite a comment and discussion on each and every poem on display. Or you could join in one of the discussions in the bulletin board. If you are already a member of AllPoetry, you will acquire points for your comments, which will enable you to promote your own poetry or even your favourite classical piece.

The newly developing team at OP have been working hard over the last year to bring the site up-to a standard which will be unrivalled as a free website. Many poet's biographies still remain to be completed but the dedicated team of volunteers are rapidly bringing them up-to date.
Each poets work will be listed from his biography page, where you can search by the volume it was printed in, alphabetical order or by entering a reference word in a search engine.

August has been a good month, despite the refreshing problems which have been haunting the sites of recent times, OP (oldpoetry.com) has seen a good increase in traffic. Many of the visitors have come in from the search sites. With thanks to Kevin (the site owner), OP now rates high on most searches for any famous poet on most search engines.

The OP poetry contests at AllPoetry have seen many great responses since they have been running, and are something we intend to continue with, for as long as we have todays poets participating. We would like to thank all who have entered, and shown that the spirit of poetry, is as much alive today as it has been since the first uttering of verse. Any current contest can be found on the OP front page, or alternatively in the contest forum at AllPoetry.

Future News Bulletins, will be released when available, with information on what is happening on the site. Which poets have joined the halls of fame, which volumes of poetry have been added, new discussions and any other events as they occur.
These will be posted as a column in AllPoetry, on the Bulletin board at OldPoetry or you can receive it as an E-Mail, by sending an E-Mail with Bulletin request written on it to research@oldpoetry.com

Finally we would like to thank all the visitors we have had in the site, showing that OP is a valued service, and the sole payment the dedicated team of volunteers receives. And it is those who will, along with your participation, make the site even better as it grows.

If you have any question about the site or any related material, please do not hesitate to contact any members of staff at OP by IM or you can
e-mail to oldpoetry@oldpoetry.com

You don't always have to know where you're coming from to know where you're going. But it helps to know where the puddles are, and which oceans are navegable. Very informative.
Hopefully, more time will be spent there, a lot of hard work goes into forming such a large collection of history.
    Peace
    Chris

We at 'Old Poetry' think this is a wonderful way to adverstise the Pioneers of Poetry. It's a useful, educational and enjoyable site improving and increasing in volume every day. I for one never thought we had so many poets to research. I began in Oceania quite some months ago now and am amazed at the wide variety of poetic talent in Australia and New Zealand alone.
We do work hard, we do put the time in because we want to and for me it has and still is a wondeful learning experience.
Please give it try and see for yourself.
    Regards
    Von

Old Poetry is a fantastic source of information both for personal and schoolastic learning and broadening of experience of the written word of poetry, its' history and its' creators..
Such gorgeous and expressive minds to explore within the world wide web.
It has been such a wonderful experience for me to have helped the Old Poetry site grow and I hope that these bulletins will encourage others to come and enjoy an old favourite or a newly found pleasure.
