A New and Enlightening Method of Writing
Proprioceptive Writing is sweeping the country as writer's workshops and conferences are now teaching this new method that will, with daily practice, allow us to release our inhibitions about writing, to write from the very essence of our beings and to eliminate "Writer's Block" once and for all. But, you're probably asking, "What exactly is Proprioceptive Writing?" Good question.
Proprioception is derived from the Latin word, Proprius, meaning "One's own." So, the answer is "One's own writing." This column is all about learning to hear that inner voice inside each one of us; it's also about personal discovery, can lead to healing and further our understanding concerning ourselves on a very personal level. The above are merely extra bonuses added to the huge reward of becoming better writers through daily practice of this new method of writing.
Please contact me at the e-mail provided below. The subject line should read "Writing Column," so that I won't accidentally delete you.
Once I get, at least, five people who are interested in learning more about this progressive writing technique, I will then write a more in-depth column explaining what you will need, and what you will have to do, in order to gain the most from the experience. Be prepared! This is not formal writing, so there are no mistakes. This must become a daily practice, similar to meditation, except you will be writing and, hopefully, sharing--but not outside the group. More will be explained in the next column that will get you off the ground. Before I close this column, I want to share one more interesting aspect of the enlightening journey on which we will soon embark:
When Linda Trichter Metcalf, PH.D. began performing Proprioceptive Writing, she didn't even have a name for it. As well, she had no clue as to the astounding benefits that arose from the daily practice, including the fact that she is now a much better writer. And, that was 25 years ago!
If you're interested in a journey of the spirit that will unlock the great writer within, then join us as we tap into and experience, through words, a writer's paradise. You'll never look back!
