Patrick Swayze dead at 57

"Nobody puts Baby in a corner"

He's gone.

After a painful 20 month battle with pancreatic cancer, he died just a few minutes ago, with his family and friends close by.

After months fighting off stories of his demise-

he's closed his eyes for the last time.

He went peacefully, they say.

(the story about the story):

Just breaks my heart.

First Farrah, a woman I grew up idolizing-and now the man-the MAN, the star of the one movie (Dirty Dancing) that ushered me into real womanhood, who taught me about passion and lust, and determination...sigh..

Well Patrick, I never hunted you down and married you, like I swore I would so long ago.

You still owe me a dance, darlin...and maybe one day in another life we can do that.

May you rest in peace.

It's so sad to me. I am only 2 years younger than he was. OMG! I feel really bad, even though I knew he was ill. My condolences to his family and friends. We have had so many pass over this year. My heart hurts.

Ghost and Dirty Dancing are my favorite movies. I didn't see them when they first came out as I was just a little kid but damn, I saw them in my early twenties and he was hot back then.

    He's not suffering anymore. RIP.

I loved him in "Dirty Dancing." I knew about the cancer and always prayed he would win. I pray for every cancer patient to win, because I lost both my parents to liver cancer.

May you, Jin, dance with him in your dreams and may it be a long time before you dance on heaven's ball room floors.
Thanks for the letting us know.

    Love, Tom B.

      I hope so Tom.
He was THE man of my youth, and we all die at some point, but you know..I had always just secretly hoped he'd get better. Look at how many have gotten better...Tim McGraw, Robert Urich (sp?), so on and so forth.
Just saddens me, and makes me very aware of how fragiel we really are.
      Thanks for reading,
      jin

    wow.

One of the books I was forced to read in school was The Outsiders. I grew to love the book and also the movie. Loved Patrick in that movie, yep.

Sad sad ... but he's not suffering anymore.

Outsiders...wow, I'd forgotten all about that one.
      hadn't seen it in ages.
he was just so big in Dirty Dancing, and Ghost, and The Roadhouse, The north and South-which Rose just reminded me of...
      no, he's not suffering anymore.

Jin..thank you for telling us..The agony we would see in his face over all these months, how he endured...Yes, he was a favorite in the television movies..I remember him in "North and South", the passionate love of a plantation owner's wife and how he rescued her from abuse.
He fought the cancer with all his might...I mourn a great actor..as I mourned Farrah, and years ago Michael Landon...(my favorite)...Thanks Jin..

You know I always feel bad when I hear of someones passing, it just seems that Patrick was really a sincere and overall nice guy, it is such a sad thing this news.

I just got on 2 minutes ago and saw that news on the yahoo page, feels really bad to see so many great talents go and it also reminds me of my own mortality, after all nobody lives forever.

    Such a sad, sad day.

Look how quickly we've all formed here, that says something about Swayze, and of course about you. I didn't know he'd passed on.

Never was a fan but of course I remember the hubbub over Dirty Dancing. My sister-in-law made me tape a copy for her many years ago. She was addicted to it.

I guess the quality of a man is how he handles the low points and I guess that speaks volumes for him.

there was alot to him, not just that he was a movie star.
sure, he could dance, but he did more with his name than many twicce his stature.
Dirty Dancing-I cant even begin to start talking about that now, out of respect for him. Just leaves that lump, right there

WHen I read this, I remembered one of my favorite skits on Saturday Night Live...

ya know Patrick was from Texas, right?
      I loved Chris Farley.
      I loved Phil Hartman too.
I know that people come and go and life moves on and all that, but it just seems like all of the important ones in my life time are being struck down. Someone once said tragedy always comes in threes. Well, he'd be the third.
I remember that skit, I've seen it.
made me laugh through the tears.
      thank you my sister.

        I am sorry sweet Sis
It is hard to lose someone that you have loved in life even from afar. I bet he is smiling down on your comment about marrying him and the dance
