ChatAct - A site for role playing

I'm excited to announce the 'beta test' version of Chatact, Allpoetry's newest sister site. It's targeted at role-players, with groups and journals being the main focus. There are contests too. Please be patient with any bugs Check it out!
It also has contests, so you can invite other people to enter journals, for example to help you define a persona for a group.

Free silver memberships for everyone currently, with gold memberships available to win or purchase eventually.

There's not much in terms of new features that allpoetry doesn't have, but hopefully people will give it a shot to have a way to focus on the roleplaying side of things.

As usual, your allpoetry login and password work to log you in there as well.

Enjoy!

    Say wha...!

I thought we were 'Role Playing.
( playing the role of yet to be discovered, poets )
I was playing the part of the old curmudgeon
trying to influence the younger players, to give up
on 'rose petals, stars, cicadas, and using the word 'Like.
Oh my...I feel really foolish. lol

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!

    PLEASE NOOOO!!!

I roleplay yes, but no! Please don't!!! I don't need to have people being complete idiots... which is why I don't use roleplay websites! Please don't do that! I'd never come on again!

I mean seriously... -.- you really want to make another group for people who are pretending to be friggin' "creators" and what not and let them rule suppream?

    That's sad no offence.

Kevin--Please do come up with specialized things for the role-playing site which are not generally found on Allpoetry--otherwise, why should we switch to this site, if it offers nothing that can't be found where most of the roleplayers already are? It's just more of the same, if you don't specialize.

Some things which others might find helpful:

    1. A die-roller for 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 20, and 100-sided dice.
    2. An improvement so that text doesn't disappear on mouseover in the white-background comments
    3. The ability to create character sheet template forms.
    4. The ability for character sheets to be approved before a member can be admitted into a game. This is possible currently by putting the text of your character sheet template on the group's visitor description page, but that really looks tacky. RPG websites keep the character sheet template on an internal page, not the portal page.
    5. Something to allow differentiation between out-of-character topics about the roleplay, versus the in-character roleplay topics themselves. Right now, everything out-of-character and in-character is all jumbled together on the main topics page and allows for only minimal organization.
    6. Something that allows the group moderator to decide whether members may create topics or whether only the moderator(s) may create topics.
    7. A control that allows for lurkers--people you want to be able to read but not to post. This would be helpful for people who want to look at the game first and see if it is interesting to them. As it is now, such people are let into the group and have full member privileges upon entry.

    Hey!
As a seven year AP veteran, I enjoy seeing changes that allow for different 'slants' of writing, namely roleplaying like a board game . Each member, a pawn, plays different roles by improvisational dialogue into a network of adventures and goals.

I'm in agreement with this kind of social writing , as long as there is a focus and final product. In my opinion, it is much like a screenplay that
has to have a plot. This should include all the elements of a movie or stage play.

If this is NOT the agenda, I am reluctant to agree to what can't truly assume a literary product.

Who has been here the longest? (besides Kevin obviously)

Roleplaying.. Let's say that you join a group that .. well let's take Harry Potter..

If you were to "pretend" that you were one of the characters of that show, or someone that could have been there, but was not written in the books, and you give that character a full background with what it can and can not do..

What spells it knows and such.

And you interact with other players in a group, and each keeps to that character.. almost like if you were an actor playing out a movie..

I'm not into this but it's very nice because I know a lot of AP members are into it and requested such a site.

What about that music site project you had many years ago? are you still planning on doing that one too?
