  Sideways Hourglass

Congrats!!!

1. Where did you grow up?
The suburbs in Florida.

2.What is the first thing you remember that perked your interest in writing?
My seventh grade Language Arts teacher, Mrs. Peele, told me that I had talent and I should use it. That’s when I started to write stories. I even began to write a novel, which - honestly - was very juvenile. It was about a bunch of teenagers that found themselves stuck in a nuclear accident. Those that survived gained superpowers. You know the rest, it was a very cliché storyline. Haha.

3. Did you go to college/university?
I am currently in high school.

4. If so, what was your major?
n/a

5. Outside of college, how have you educated yourself beyond secondary school?
n/a

6. What’s your favorite color?
Orange, because it is unique.

7. Food?
Pizza

8. Pastime?
Besides poetry, soccer.

9. Music?
I admit that I’m a mainstream junkie. Haha. But I like Katy Perry, Jesse McCartney, Daughtry, Enrique Iglesias, Paramore, Simple Plan, and - for those of you that watch American Idol - I like Allison Iraheta, Kris Allen, and Adam Lambert. I can’t wait for Allison to come out with a CD.

10. Poet ?
Honestly, there really isn’t any poet that I look up to that is famous. If I give anyone credit, I should give Justin (son of solomon) credit, because he was the first person to talk to me one-on-one about poetic devices. Since then, my poetry has continued to improve, because I can express my emotions more effectively by using imagery and metaphors to make the emotions stronger, more intense.

11. TV show?
Greek. Love it! And someday I want to audition for either Survivor or The Amazing Race - to actually be on one of those shows.

12. Movie ?
All of the Final Destination movies.

13. Book ?
The Great Gatsby, Lord of the Flies, Anthem, and the Harry Potter series. As a kid, I enjoyed all of the Magic Treehouse series.

About Your Life On All Poetry

1. Give me a brief rundown of your history on AP. In other words, how did you get here?
I was looking up poems for a project on google, and I happen to find AP. That’s when I explored and decided to join. I’ve wrote many poems. I’ve even hosted a multi-round contest called X Factor. I’m currently hosting the second season, which consists of amazing poets - anyone who reads this should check it out and read the contestant’s poetry. The top eight contestants are Adoles, Blackberry, Color me silent, Endymion, February Moon, Flight, Never Fall in Love, and Woven Lullaby. Don’t forget to check out X Factor Season One’s winner aanika. The poets involved in the contest are super talented and are highlights of the talent here on AP. Besides X Factor, I’m competing in two multi-round contests: Unplanned (hosted by Ryno and Never Fall in Love) and DAW (hosted by divebar). My goal is to place within the final four in both contests. Most of all, my main goal is to learn new things and improve - which is my main motivation for competing in such contests in the first place.

2. How long have you been a member of All Poetry?
Almost a year.

About Your Poetry :

1. When did you first begin to write?
Seventh grade.

2. What kind of poetry do you write the most? Dark, Sensual, Etc.
Everything I write is personal and straight from my heart.

3. Who are your influences?
All of my friends and favorite poets on AP. In particular, as I said earlier, Son of solomon. Some days, he spent hours mentoring me.

4. What feeds your desire to continue writing poetry ?
Whenever I’m feeling something, I have the urge to write about it. I look at poetry like a snapshot of someone’s life, a frozen moment full of emotions and images. It’s like taking a picture, except you write instead of clicking a button.

General :

1. Hobbies?
Writing poetry, playing soccer, going out to the movies, going to the beach, shopping at the mall, walking my dog around the block while listening to my iPod, texting my friends, etc.

2. Pets?
A dog. She’s a Doxin and her name is Roxy.
I also have a cat. Her name is Moo, because she is black and white like a cow.

3. Talents?
Poetry, soccer, beat-boxing (lol), and decorating.

4. Jobs?
I’m a soccer referee.

5. What advice would you give to growing poets ?
Always stay true to yourself, but don’t ever be afraid to take someone’s advice, experiment, and try new things. There’s always room for improvement. Ultimately though, you should do what makes you happy - whether in writing or life in general.

6. Anything else you can think of.
I want to say thank you for the honor of being AP’s member of the month. It means a lot to me. And I would like to thank all of my friends on AP for all of the support they have given me.
