The New Background System and How To's

Here is a tutorial for those that need help with the new background system.

On the right hand side you see :
1. Let Me Submit anyway
2. Use default background

The submit anyway is if you know for sure you're finished with everything and don't want anything changed. Click that and it helps save time.
The Use default background is a regular plain free background or color that Kevin has picked if you don't want to have one up.
The default will always be the same on all poems unless if Kevin decides to change the default one.
Right below you'll see the blue default color that it's auto set with.

Underneath the Use Default background you'll see :

Advanced
Hide Edge Line
Stay on left
Edge line are the lines going down on the right and left of the side.
You can decorate your background with those or you can leave it plain.
Example of when you're using the edge lines:
http://allpoetry.com/poem/4765343

Do you see the white on the side and the black in the middle?
The white on the side are the edged lines.
You must UNCLICK it if you wish to use it.
Now if you want to have a FULL background like for your home page such as :
AnnD
That's when you click HIDE (put a check in the box) edged lines & stay on the left.
It gives the full background that way.

Now lets move on to the background for your poem.
Click Add on the top and put test on the subject if you'd like to test it.
Choose the background for your poem
1. Choose the main background from a category.
colors, tiled, themes, patterns, floral, custom
The main background is the center part.
Remember in the first poem that you viewed with the white on the side?
http://allpoetry.com/poem/4765343
The black in the middle is the MAIN background center part.
You can change it to however you want. Free members can use the colors, and site backgrounds. Silver and Gold can upload their own.

2. Choose the edge background
Colors tiled costum
You can mix and match the colors to fit the middle accordingly.
Remember that busy backgrounds might suit better for the edge if you're able to customize it.

I hope that helps you to better understand the backgrounds.
People might ask how some backgrounds have text on it and fancy things on the side.
It's because they usually have made their own background or found one on the web.
You can use your own paint window to do backgrounds.

If you have any questions feel free to ask!

I have a question. Some of the backgrounds I have made with a design running down the left side will not work. When I use the background the text from the poem is on the left instead of to the right of the design like most backgrounds that are like that. How do I fix that?

Do you have a screen shot or example so I know exactly how to answer your question?

    Excellent. Thank you.

LEARN has some lessons on PAINT and backgrounds for poems.

This is a very helpful column.

You need to find the tutorials online (google) for paint. There are loads that can help you make your own background plus if you search the site some AP Members have made one as well
Also there are a few PSP/Graphic groups on AP so I encourage you to search through the groups.
