If you don't see the front page of the site (click the logo) centered on the screen, your monitor may not be very large, and that's fine.
Later this week, we'll be upgrading the background chooser to use the same one as at storywrite. Left-patterns will also be repeated again on the right side of the screen when the monitor space is big enough. This usually looks pretty good, but does run into problems occassionally.

I commented before, but I really see no need for there to be blocks of colour that are 5 and a half centimeters wide!
It makes the site look tacky. The bird thing is eh. The writing is lovely though. -
I like the lettering but the bird is - not quite so appealing. I liked the raven rather than the gull. - it is a gull, right?
I do hope you will not change our author pages at all. Some of us have taken a long time to develop our look with special graphics which require the right sizing. The borders on the home page are one thing but would really take away from our author's pages and if that same format moves to the poetry pages it will not be at all applealing.
I am not fond of the layouts on Old poetry or story write for those reasons and don't frequent much because of it.
Please don't change our pages to look like your front page. -

I agree with xOne Winged Angelx, I think we should be able to keep our author pages the way they are. The border was one thing I really hated about Storywrite.

Umm, I kind of like it and kind of don't. I mean I don't mind change because sometimes it can be cool and fun, but then again it can so not! what if you give the members a choice? like the Authors page? You have the advanced and then up top you have the "basic page" what if you did something like that? so that people can stick with the new page if they like it or they can go back to the old page? I like the idea of change, just as long as it's.. agreed upon by all... But good job!?

I really dislike the new look. I clicked the link for this site and was just like, ....absolutely disgusting. I appreciate the effort of changing it and stuff but the center align thing just annoys me. The old back ground was easier to look at and this just cramps my screen up. At least the old style may have been a tad plain but with enough room for things to be spaced out.
Anyway, I personally don't like this new layout. Just my opinion. Would much rather the old one, especially when I refresh this page a lot. And looking at this layout really makes me want to stop visiting as much. -
The appearance is chic.
I like it.
IE was not loading page content for me, or it took longer than my patience, which is the same thing. After clearing my cookies and temp files, it worked.

I do like the new Logo but I do have one question...under Contest I see there is no longer the 'contests by friends' as I use this a lot I am missing it already and am sorry to see this removed. Guess we have to try it out for a bit to see what is different .. what works...or not ... by letting Kevin know then what we feel perhaps a happy medium can be reached.

Always takes a while to get used to changes, but on first appearance, I do like this new look - bright, crisp, simple. Nice to have different backgrounds too for different seasons. A big check mark from this teacher.

Allpoetry just took a big design step UP! Looks great. I saw the new look of storywrite a few days ago and was wondering if we might see something neat like it here on AP soon. Glad we did. Thanks for all your hard work, as always.

I like the new logo, but I can't find the drop-downs for Poems (newest, rewarding, etc., latest comments, find author.....) - especially the 'latest comments' as that's where I find a lot of poems that I click on.....favorites sometimes write so many they are off the 'home' page too fast - and I find their writes on 'latest comments' without having to go to each favorite's page.....

A few nice changes, not so sure about the centering thing for the poems.
Would like to request though for the ability to send an IM to all on your favourites list (to invite into a contest for example) similiarly to how you can send a note to entrants in a contest. It would also be great if we could enter new or pre-write columns into a contest for the background contests only. -

Okay...I get that you're on the whole change is good kick. That's apparent enough in how much the site has been revamped in the past few years...but seriously.
Changing a logo is one thing, but why change the ENTIRE set up of the site? If you want to do the whole centered crap with the logo why not just do it on the public pages (i.e. front page, browsing categories, etc)? I'd like it if I was able to make the choice for myself what my author page, group pages, and poetry pages look like. I HATE backgrounds that aren't fitted to the page. -

The only problem I see with it is there isn't a link on our bio page anymore to reach the home page. Plus i don't see the logo on IE 6 NOR firefox. Even after deleting cookies, logging in and out PLUS restarting the computer. I just see the new layout but no logo.
So there is NO logo on my page at all either.

I see a Home link where the logo used to be next to the Allpoetry on the author pages. So the Home link should be working. I just checked it. You may want to see if you have that link as well.

Completely agree with you Amaranthine Lover. I pay to use backgrounds, and I make them so they won't repeat on the side...if he does the repeat thing, that defeats everything I've tried to do.

Eh...I really hate what you did with the front page. The centered crap is NOT aesthetically pleasing at all. There's a lot of information on the front page for it to all be squished together like that.
As for choosing an edge color...my laptop is slow enough as it is that I don't want to even mess with backgrounds. The way you have it set up right now it takes an HOUR for all the background swatches to load.
It seems like you're making backgrounds more of a hassle than they should be. Why change something that's already complicated enough? You have to have firefox to even correctly upload and use backgrounds as it is! -

I have to say, I really, really like the background behind the logo on the front page. I wish it could be on every page lol, except author pages of course. The new logo takes a little getting used to, its kind of a surprise everytime I click a new page lol. Definitely catches my eye more often now.

Oh my God...Are you serious? I hate the plain colors at the edges of the backgrounds....it looks HORRENDOUS. I use custom backgrounds on my groups...and I set them to fit the size of my screen. What about that?

Your screen wont' be the same size as everyone's screen, which makes things complicated.
But you'd be able to make a tiling side background that goes with your background, upload that, and use it on the side... -

Sounds a little too complicated. I'm a bit of a nitpicker and don't like when the background repeats on the side because it doesn't look seamless when it does that.
