New allpoetry logo ideas

We've had our current awesome logo for several years now, and it's time for a change. I'll present several that I've been working on, as well as my current favorite.
I continue to like the raven theme (based on edgar allen poe's 'The Raven'). It feels like a poetic image that's more vivid than a feather or quill or pen, which are especially not adapted to todays world where we often write on computers anyways. Plus, now the raven is a tradition

I also really like the 'soaring' raven version, but it doesn't fit the logo location quite as well:

I think the soaring raven will have to make it to a t-shirt soon.


My first favorite. A form of soaring, but less wide.



You'll notice the navigation links are also going simpler. They create a drop down menu nearly idetical to the current format, they just look simpler to begin with. I think this looks great with the new bar across the top of the screen. Especially with the silver bar; the colored bars may get some tweaking in another month or so.


I expect the site will be updated in a few days with the new logo. I hope you enjoy the new top-of-the-page companion

    the first one's good but maybe give the raven wings, feathers, just some detail. the 2nd and 3rd are a good idea, however they lack balance. the last one is also works, but like the 1st one, the raven needs a little bit of detail.
    i like the 1st one the best.

    First-Cute and silly
    Second-I like it, actually...and I think it fits...the raven is HOVERING over AllPoetry, and that's neat.
    Third-Same comments as for the second...it's still hovering, but above...
    Fourth-Cute...love the changes in color..

    ...but none of these are as good as the original. I love that the original looks like it's taking flight, going somewhere, travelling somewhere better.

    unlike many others, I love the last one pictured...
    There is just something about it that catches my eye...As you said, still soaring, but less wide.....I really love it!

    My favorites lie between the first and second, I really don't care must for the others...
    The last one, I agree looks like a gull.

    I think the last one looks too much like a gull.
    The second one clicks for me. It flows underneath the words, draws the eye to them, and carries them.

    Perhaps I'm reading too much into it. Haha.

    Either way, I'd vote for the second.

    I like the last one...very contemporary

    but still traditional looking...the first one kinda
    looks like a pigeon...don't use that one!

    the last one is beautiful and stylish!
    speaks of our old poetry and looks very crisp and
    clean.

    secondly i firmly believe you should de-evolve the bird back to its former dinosaur, perhaps a brachiosaur. the slogan can read 'Allpoetry.com we only stick our necks out for food."

    or

    "Allpoetry.com we graze with our heads held high."

    i'm quite fond of the first option, think about it.

    Please Don't Change

    I whole-heartedly believe that our current logo suits the members of this site most. It is also very reflected of the diversity and talent contained within this site. Please Don't Change.

    I think we should stick with what we have, but make it a bit darker, so it's easier to see. Or, we could encompus(sp) the silver raven in a sort of black cressant-shape? I like using the Raven, it's a very potent animal.

    I really like the logo you have now. I guess if I had to choose it would be your current favorite. i know my opinion doesn't matter but the old logo is etched on my brain LOL

    I really like the second one. It gives the feel of poetry being lifted higher. And many is the time it gives the author and the reader the feeling of flight. Which ever one you go with, I'm sure it will be a great addition to our pages. The change is great, as I've always thought the current one looks more Halloweenish.

    Personally I like the raven on the bottom or the white bird, but that's just personal. They're all nice.

    I like the one we have now...

    ...progress means change, sometimes...but not always. There is such a thing as a backward step, and I think to change the logo would be such a step. I have become proud of it, as it is.

    I agree that the new ones look cartoonish and do not have the same character as the old. The old logo looks more classic and serious, as poetry often is. My suggestion is - do not change everything.

    Everything in my life changes, and never for the best.
    AP has had a strong sense of stability for me in the time I've been here and I find the logo to be comforting.

    Please keep it the way it is.

    To be horrendously cliche, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

    I like the second two the most. I like the font, because it reminds me of calligraphy, and for me, writing poetry in calligraphy seems even more poetic. I like the navigation buttons too, they offer a nice fresh new look!

    I like the same one you do, as a matter of fact. I hope you change it to that one. the one that we have now doesn't even look like a raven. It looks like a witch with wings.
    Anyway! I think this is cool and thanks for showing us!

    Well, to disagree with some, I really like the font but far prefer the current raven to any of these other options.
    The first bird and the white bird look too 'cartoony' I think, and lower the meaning of it. The soaring birds are great but don't really fit.
    The raven we already have on this site is great. I love its stance. I don't think any of the others here live up to it.
    Just my opinion!

    Yeahhh I like the current one alot better than the new ones hahaha. Isn't there anything else we can have, if we do change it? Maybe we should have people submit some or something and vote? I dunno. I don't really like the new suggestions....

    I Adore the Current logo much more than any of these options. Though if you do have to change it. I'd go with either option 2 or 3.

    The current logo is so much better, in my opinion, than anything. Try thinking of what we have at the moment, and expanding. Your expressed ideas seem elementary, compared to the graphics of our current logo, and I know you don't have a lot of time to dedicate to the "logo hunt," but people look for things that are eye catching and abstract. I love the current logo for those reasons. Maybe, we could try a raven like the one we have with a feather quill in its talons, if it must be changed.

    If you have to change it, (not sure why you would want to though) I would say the last one, the one you have as the first favorite... that is the only one that looks half decent to me.

    Kevin....If you MUST change it (I love the current one), it's the second & third images for me (3 looks a little easier for us "old folks" to read...LOL!). And...I LOVE the Raven! Though I have to admit...the ravens on the last ones look more like seagulls. The first one doesn't look like a raven at all to me. More like a dove or pigeon. LOVE that you ask/respect our input, as well, my friend.

    I think I like the second and third more. Though I think I like the current one even more - I don't know, to all those who have known the site for a while it's more representative. But I like it that you're keeping the raven theme, and yeah if you have to change to the format in those pictures, a simpler logo would work better.

    Of the choices given, I like the soaring raven underneath the site name. Perhaps if some people have other ideas they should be encouraged to submit them for the rest of us to evaluate.

    I never liked the current logo... Having worked in and around advertising and graphic arts for thirty years I found it very dated and uninteresting...

    however sad to say, I like it better than any of the new ones presented here, all of which suffer from the same problems... why use such an old fashioned font and I doubt there is any image more cliche than the raven for poetry (perhaps the quill pen you mentioned...lol)

    Are you doing the design yourself? if you are I would greatly encourage you to seek out someone experienced in commercial graphic art design or check out the logos on some other sites which are much more contemporary and frankly more cool...

    this may not be your grandmother's poetry site, but it sure looks it.... why not go for something a little less 19th century and keep this for the Old Poetry website...

    I love this site but have always cringed at the logo, if these are the choices it seems my cringing days will continue...

    I know several people here that could really help but I won't volunteer them, but if they are reading this PLEASE offer your expertise

    i kinda like the current one,
    it looks all mysterious and
    amazing. Yours are very nice,
    but they lack a form of mystery,
    which is what every poet has.
    And the raven proves it.

    I don't mean this disrespectfully- but i don't think you are there yet- none of those justify an update- none of them POP
    and look any more inviting than
    what you have now- If I were you
    i would sit on it for a few more days
    play more-
    because i think you are right that an update is a great idea-
    but make it one that
    upgrades the site instead of a lateral pass

    2 & 3 are OUT

    of the choices I like #1 the best... but the current is still my favorite. Ask yourself... Has McDonald's abandoned the "golden arches"? Nope. Cause it's branding. And your current logo... perhaps with the new font... is your brand. Let's not give in to "change for change's sake".

    I like the first one, though the 'raven' is a bit bulky, and somewhat plain; as far as the flush look - the second one seems to look as if it flows well - with the AllPoetry above rather than below Either way, I just like the flying ravens lol. Best wishes!

    I like the choices of..hm......1.......2....and 3. I sure do agree with everyone else that the fourth one looks like a seagull.....But its still pretty good.

    I think soaring raven above the AllPoetry is best

    but I'm sure it will be the one I like least the white raven that is chosen.

    I like the soaring raven ones. I like how it greets the poets up at the top of the page saying hi. I admit it does take time for me to get used to changes around here, but I look forward to seeing what the new update will look like.

    This looks so familiar... I don't know why

    Any of them look fine for me... What about having the bird faded into the background and then a slogan under the words?

    I like the first soaring raven the best. It may not fit the logo location perfectly, but I think it looks the nicest, nonetheless. They are all pretty well done, but if I had to choose, I would go with the first soaring raven.

      I agree that it looks awesome, I just don't think it fits as well with the logo space. That one screams out to be put on a t-shirt though!

      Yeah the ravens always fight for differentiation from the seagulls Seperate wing feathers is a trademark different I think, though I'm no aviation expert
