Random Poems Picked From All Kinds Of Sections! June 08

Randomly picked poems from AP's most popular features on the site!

Each Month Kari or I will be putting random poems in this column from the most popular features on the site. This will help new members get familiar with the site, and also remind old members of them. Every month will be a surprise of who gets picked and no one will know until it's up!
We hope that you all enjoy the reminders, and the column. Each poem that is put in the column will also be spotlighted on the front page as a special thank you for your work.
Now if your poem is here and you would like it removed please feel free and IM Kari or me!

The first section I would like to talk about is the reward section. Here in this section most of the comments are critiques.

You can find this section with following this link :

The Other Woman

by CelticQueen

Her copper-colored hair
hung down her back in waves.
Freckles lay like coarsely-ground pepper
across her face and arms.  She was beautiful
and my father loved her with his whole heart.

Blond curls framed my baby face.
A chatterbox charmer. Daddy’s little girl.
That made her uneasy.  Unloved by her own father,
she’d never learned it was okay
for daddies to love their little girls.

So he withdrew from me.
It didn’t make her feel better.
Jealousy is like that.  It’s never enough.

Red drained from her hair and freckles faded.
She could not care for herself so I came.
Dad was dying but she only knew that I was there
and when I was there, so was jealousy.

Maybe if my hair had been red.
Maybe things would have been different.

A Downpour

by Kiwigirljacks

I walk this barren land

   of my mislaid Intentions

                and drowned dreams

For many have been my wrongs

   and poisonous paths taken

   Trying only to venture beyond

   my shackled realities

      with vulnerable heart and

                          shattered spirit

I pray forgiveness for my sins

Knowing it shall not be given

for a soul such as mine

                         turned traitor

   So stifled sits my freedom

Out of reach... yet it taunts me

Eyes lift to see what shall not be

             Deprived with justification

   Lighthouse of enlightenment

                 never to reside

   Tree of all life's knowledge

   denied for my

            wretched ways

   A downpour upon my soul

   Subduing me in rightful

                            penance

   A downpour!!

   Yet still... I hope

Plead pity for my weary soul

Lead me to a path of faith

A dark shadow passes over me

   and I already know...

                  ... that ship has sailed

Then there is the featured section! A lot of people love this section.

A Father's Pride

by ferg

Few things fill my soul to the brim
Like the love for my three daughters.
Long ago youngsters,
Now empowered women
In their own right,
But ever children
In my heart nevertheless.

I become their loving witness
As they venture forth
On their respective journeys.
Stretched across the miles
Our interwoven lives becomes the fabric
That will not be torn,
This is family.

I celebrate their victories
And shoulder their pain in loss,
I endure the lessons taken,
Submit counsel from loving compassion,
The fatherland in stormy weather,
An anchor in safe harbor,
Home in a word.

They are sunlight drenching cloudy days,
Heavenly rain for the parched soul,
They teach me forgiveness for failings and foibles,
Resilience imbued with fortitude,
How to stay young with fervor,
How to grow old with grace,
How to be a dad.

A father’s pride.

Do Not Weep

by CatherineL

Do not weep,
For I do not sleep,
Beneath the starry skies,
I sleep above them,
Peaceful and calm,
Without pain or tears,
Without this cancer,

Do not weep,
For I do not sleep,
On that earth no more,
I sleep in heaven,
With my mother,
But still, I love you all,

Do not weep,
For when you do,
I will just command – be still,
Let your tears of grief,
Be tears of joy,
At remembering our lives together,

Do not weep,
For when you do,
I cry too,
And it saddens me,
So be happy that we,
Had more time than some,
And remember it in times to come,

Do not weep,
For I do not sleep,
Beneath the starry skies,
I sleep next to you,
Peaceful and calm,
Without pain or tears,
Without this cancer,

Please do not weep for me,
It saddens me to see your woe,
Move on from this,
And do not feel guilty for doing so.

Glide

by cold fire77

Run. Run. Run.
There is no where to hide.
Keep gliding swiftly
Or else you’ll be trapped

Run from your past
Run from you present.
Run for your life.

Countryside moves so slickly.
As the train moves over smooth fields.
I can barely take it in.
But know that I am safe.

I am on the run again.

Thank You all for each poem that you put up. You never know when your poem could change someone, or touch someone, make them smile, or even give them hope. I look forward to seeing more poems in these sections!
