1] Who created the group?
The Poetic Bandits was originally created in October 2006 by Sharcu, he was a wonderful leader, and I was so proud to be his Co-leader…by 21st December 2006; the ownership was passed on to me, I felt so honoured, because it was a group of wonderful poets and had the potential to become legendary in AP, which I believe it is now being achieved…a group cannot function without dependable active members and The Poetic Bandits are a group united through thick and thin, they are respectful and helpful to each other and to others in the AP community.

2] How did you come up with the groups name?
The group’s name was thought up by Sharcu, it was inspired by the saying ‘make out like a bandit’, it means, to be extremely successful and prophet greatly, and the name has become our focus, we are the Bandits, and we band together for the good of all others, just like Robin Hood and his Merry Men.
3] What is the purpose/goal of the group?
As it says in our Group Mission Statement, the members of The Poetic Bandits see poetry as an art and treat it likewise, and we continuously strive to improve our group with new ideas to make it a fun, more interactive group. Our purpose is to carry on being committed and supportive, sometimes going above and beyond what is asked of us, to lift someone’s spirit, and to continue improving our skills as writers.
4] Are the members overall active?
The Poetic Bandits is a very active group, with most members participating in everything we do, in fact they feel guilty when ever poorly, going on vacation, or doing exams, etc. they send personal notes to me or a group message, apologising because they can’t be around for a while…now that’s dedication.
5] How old is the group?
The group is now 1yr and 6mths old, and will still be around for a long time yet to come, continuing to grow from strength to strength.
6] Why do you think members should join the group?
I think people should join our warm friendly group and become a Bandit, because if they enjoy interacting with great poets, reading and commenting, and care about others, then this is the group for them.
Tell us some good things about your group.
Now! To enlighten you about our group, and I say ‘our’ because that’s how it feels, the members are always encouraged to give their thoughts and blessings on everything that we do. I am the proud owner and lead it with my co-leader Haiku-bless-you, who is a good poet and thoughtful man; and he would be the first to agree with me, that the dedication of each member makes us a strong united group. He says the Bandits Rock!
Once upon a time the Hood-Wink was born, way back in the beginning and has continued without a break since. A Hood-Wink involves all members coming together on the same day, to ambush and comment on the poetry of two non member poets every week…we reach out to people who are in need of support and encouragement, or a little comfort after the loss of a loved one, or it maybe that someone doesn’t get many reads on their poems, our aim is to lift their spirits and brighten their day…
There are other things to enjoy within our group…twice a week one of our own members is spotlighted, one of their poems is chosen for us all to read and comment on, this is very popular and is appreciated by the receiving poet. There is the Bandits Poetry Auction once a month, for poetry that hasn’t won a trophy…group contests, and the Bandits Birthday Bash, most days there is a birthday to celebrate…my co-leader Haiku-bless you runs this and sends them a group gift of points…the reading list is also very popular, a great place to get lots of comments, it works exceptionally well and everyone sticks to the rules. We have a wide range of ages among our members, and are one big happy Bandit family.
