1. How many rounds will there be?
The simple answer is, it depends. It depends on how many quality entries I recieve. It also depends on how many people finish their assigments on time and do them correctly. But lets put it this way, I expect you to be available for 3 to 4 months at most.
2. How long does each round last?
You will have a week to complete the task[s] set out in that contest.
3. How many judges will there be?
I am hoping for 3 or 4 judges in all, including myself, but this will depend very much on availability.
4. What do I do if I have an emergency/my internet goes down etc?
If you truly are unable to enter a contest, please send me a message to let me know before that contest closes. If you are unable to do this, a friend of yours is liable to message me or one of the other judges to let us know that you are not going to enter.
5. Is there any chance of a pass?
I do believe it is only fair to allow each person to use a pass. But for obvious reaons the pass can't be used on the audition round [this one] or the final round. But any other round it is legible for, just message me or another judge to let us know that you have used your pass.
6. Do I have to write any form poetry?
Yes, but not all the rounds involve this. Each round will be different and this contest really is to find the poet that deals well with all sorts of challenges, which form is one of the aspects.
7. Do I write on my own, with one other person or in a group?
You will possibly work with all 3, depending on how the rounds go! But mostly you will work on your own.
8. If I have a problem, who do I message?
Myself, or any of the other judges. How do you know who the other judges are? You will see that they are collaborating with me on the contests and in the next round, they will be listed.
9. How many people will go through to the rounds?
I am hoping 20-25 people will go through. Though if I get exceptional writes, it may be more, mediocre writes, maybe less.
Rough Outline
It's pretty spontaneous, you'll have to see what's around the corner, I'm afraid.
Rules for Every Round
1. No bashing other entrants please. Comments that offer advice or adjustments are often welcome, but blatantly rude comments are not acceptable and if I personally hear that anyone has been making such comments they will be eliminated. Likewise, I would like others to tell me if they have had these comments on their poems.
2. Please keep the rules of each individual round. If it says only 10 lines, please keep to this. If only one entry is permitted, then don't ask if you are allowed a secondary entry, because the answer is no. On this note however, if you do not understand the rules you are always welcome to ask.
3. Please label entries correctly. I appreciate your entrie stick to sensual, not erotica. Also that you use mild darkness, not blatantly disturbing. If you don't understand what I mean by this, then please do ask.
4. No insulting judges for their opinions/choice on your poem. You signed up to the competition accepting that we judge on personal opinion, how well you have performed the challenge and alike and therefore we really do not want to hear any complaints. If you think we did something unfairly, please do message us but do this in a polite way. If we have done something wrong we will gladly correct it, but we do not appreciate any swearing or harassing from contestants.
5. Please finish your entries on time. I will not be chasing up individuals, I should not have to do this! If you miss the deadline without telling me a reason previously as to why you will not be able to finish it, you are kicked out of the competition.
6. Along with rule number 5 please do contact us if you have no possible way of completing a task [computers gone down, you have to go away suddenly etc] we will understand as long as you have prewarned us and have a valid reason.
7. If you are using the pass [which can only be used once] please post that you are using the pass in a comment on the contest page, please. Otherwise, we will not know and will think you just didn't enter and you will be eliminated.
8. Please let us know if you change your username. In past rounds contests I've had contestants not inform me of username changes and therefore I deleted the entry they entered by using their new name, because it wasn't on my list of contestants. Please remember to do this, I will not chase this up with you!
9. Please check back here for updates, as new rules and information may be added.
Now, I will have a scoring regime and would like to know if you want to know your scores in detail (ie. Form 1/10), the score itself (27/36) or you would rather not know. Majority will rule on this.
Watch for updates.
Thank you & best of luck everyone!
