Every business and just about every home has a computer. People use the internet to communicate more than they do phones, letters, or face to face communication.
Since the internet reaches all countries, cultures and continents people have become more connected. A person in the United States can have a conversation with someone from China, and if they have a web cam they can even view each other. Pictures, audio, and video can be uploaded and shared with the world in an instant. The phrase "it's a small world after all," takes on new meaning since the beginning of the internet.
Another way the internet has changed people's lives is in the school setting. People can now earn their college degrees online from accredited universities. Students with disabilities can use the computer and the internet to do class work assignments when previously they were not able to do any work. The internet has provided a gateway for research and understanding of many different subjects, cultures, and histories as never before with traditional methods such as books.
All in all the internet has brought much change to our lives a lot of it is in a positive way. Still with everything good comes a price. Criminals, con artists, and predators have found a new anonymous playground to conduct their misdeeds in and finding new ways to police the internet is becoming a challenging predicament. Another problem has been the mass of miss information to sift through to get to the pertinent information.
For those who wish to pursue their education, communicate more effectively, learn more about other cultures, people, places and things the internet is an endless source of living breathing information that in a weird way brings us all closer to our own humanity.
