This tutorial is to add both glitter and sparkle
animation effects to an image.
I use PSP X, but it should work in any of the PSP
programs. You will also need an animation
program for this.
Let's start with a basic image, not too much
detail. Feel free to use the one I have used
to practice, or one of your own.

Open your PSP program. Go to file and open,
then find the image you want to decorate.
Next go to edit and copy. You will then go
to edit again and selct paste as new image.
Repeat this 3 to 7 times.
(For this image, I used 4 frames total.)
Now go to your first image.
Click on the magic
wand and set your mode to "add".
This is located
in the top tool bar. From here you will click
on the part of the image that you want to glitter.
You can click on more than one spot under this
mode. After you have chosen where you want to add
glitter, go to adjust - add/remove noise - add
noise. Select Gaussian and check the monochrome
box. (You can play with the percentage to yourliking - for this, I am set at 70%)
Repeat the above step for all the frames of your
image - be sure to click the same places with the
wand to maintain the same effect throughout
the image.
Now go back to the first image. Here we will add
some twinkle or starburst effects.
You can use the brush tip and pick a color,
or use tubed starburst effects.
(If anyone wants zipped files of the
starburst/twinkles, send me an IM)
For this I used tiny hearts and sparkles.
Randomly place your sparkles on the glittered
part of your image. Don't use too many,
just a few throughout the glitter.
Repeat the tubes on all the images, placing them in
different areas of the glitter from the first
image. Vary the sizes of your sparkles as well.
Now pick a color that is not located in your image
for both the foreground and background swatches.
(For this image, I used bright blue) Then use the
flood fill tool to color in the background on each image.
Now go to the image tab - palette - set palette
transparency. Click the button that says set
transparency to the current background color. This
will remove that color from showing up in your
finished image. Make sure to do this for each frame.
Now it's time to save your pictures. Go to file and
save as. Save each picture as a GIF and name your
images with numbers to keep track of them. (In thiscase, I used valentine1 through valentine4)
Here comes the fun part. Go to your animation
program. Open with the first image you just saved.
Continue to add each frame so that all your frames
are lined up.
**If you have JASC animation shop, it is easiest to
just use the animation wizard.**
Make sure you have your backgrounds marked as
transparent, even though the color will show up at
this point.
Set your loop to continuous, repeating forever.
And set the length of each frame. I used 12 for
this one. The higher the number, the longer each
frame will show, the slower the effect looks.
Sometimes you just have to play with the numbers to
see what looks best.
You should now be able to preview your animation.
If it looks good, then save your finished product.
Remember to save it as a GIF.

This was fun, thanks

for Poetic Artists? Or for Valentine's Day?
